Exhibition: Michigan vs. Concordia Open Thread

Dylan Burkhardt

Michigan 83, Penn State 66-17
Dustin Johnston

Michigan returns to action today for its exhibition season opener against Concordia University. The Wolverines have one of the youngest teams in the country this season with 12 of 14 roster spots belonging to freshmen or sophomores but expectations are sky high after a trip to the Final Four last season.

Tonight will be a chance for Michigan fans to evaluate Glenn Robinson III, Nik Stauskas, Caris LeVert and Spike Albrecht’s offseason improvement while seeing Derrick Walton, Zak Irvin and Mark Donnal in a Michigan uniform for the first time.

The game will be streamed online by BTN Digital for a fee (find subscription instructions at the bottom of this post) and tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Follow along in the open thread for in-game updates and live discussion.

It is one game, and an exhibition, but looks like there is going to be a clear 9-man rotation if Mitch is healthy.

    How was Spike? Irvin?

    • kam

Irvin struggled.. spike was basically average.. Caris Nik and Glenn were the stars

Irvin was alright, just made a nice pull-up. Definitely off at the start though

Freshmen jitters. Hopefully he can come on like a Sam Dekker. Interesting to see the Walton vs Spike battle progress. Seems like Walton won round 1.

    • gobluemd16

      There we go!

  • kam

caris has 15 points 10 rebounds and like 4 steals… wow and glenn has 33 and Nik 20 points

    @BFQuinn: Nik Stauskas +/- tonight: +103 (seriously)

    so this happened lol

    • gobluemd16

      Is that even possible??

      • No, unless it is some sort of Roland rating. I think the media box score that was calculating it was messed up.

We have less comments (right now) than Michigan scored points.

it looks like Glenn needs to learn to harness his new-found extra athleticism (didn’t know it was possible.) It looked like he jumped too high a couple of times and almost slipped on the way down. If that is my only complaint, I’ll take it.

    so that went pretty well

I’m excited to finally have Michigan basketball back in business for the season. The season should be really fun to watch with what was seen tonight. It has been awhile since we have scored so many points. I kinda felt bad for Concordia to have to be sideswiped out of the arena. I was impressed with Caris and his ball skills at being the PG with pushing the ball up the court. I liked Walton at PG also. He sure likes to pass the ball. My last thought, If Tim and Trey were still here, the team would have put up 140+ points tonight. Glad to see everyone play tonight that was healthy.

Looks like my “insider” reports were pretty true! Haha

    • kam

      lol about Caris!

      • gobluemd16

Yup, that was what I was referring to!
