Pre-Game Reading:

  • Hops

    Doesn’t get prettier than Nik’s J.

  • guestavo

LeVert is our version of Russ Smith lol

  • kam

    Nice walton!

  • kam

They blew that whistle before anyone was touched

    • Mattski

Agree. Hate when the refs assume a foul when someone drives into a crowded lane.

  • Cory

John Beilein sure can develop point guards. From where Walton was at the beginning of the season to where he is now is night and day. Lot’s of work to do still, but he’s definitely going in the right direction.

    • Gotta give LaVall Jordan a lot of credit too.

      • Cory

        Absolutely. Great staff.

    • MGoTweeter

Completely agree. I was one that thought levert or spike would be starting by mid year after the first month from Walton. Kid has really come along

    • Wayman Britt

Agree, that’s why it would be foolish for Jalen Brunson not to go to UM.

      • guestavo

        The 2016 PGs are better.

    • Alex

That’s true. LaVall Jordan is also very good at developing guards. We are lucky to have this entire staff. Very happy with them. Look at those standings that’s amazing. Tough conference this season.

  • arsenal926

    Hardaway with 30 points 6-12 from 3 11-17 overall

    • kam

“hes not ready!!”- SOOO many UM fans haha

  • Ben Sheler

Really wish MSU had to play @Nebraska. They are so good at home

  • Dustin Stone

Caris is just so slippery good in the paint

  • kam

    Wow nice move

  • Wayman Britt

    Can we get a stop.

  • Cory

Offense isn’t skipping a beat with Stauskas on the bench. Very good to see.

  • guestavo

    Double Double for LeVert

    • guestavo

Also, GR3 needs to stop fading away on his three point shot.

  • Dustin Stone

62% from the field…Not a bad shooting clip lol

  • jakelam2116

Needless to say (but I’ll say it) Robinson sluggish.

  • Wayman Britt

First time I have seen Nik force a shot in a long time.

  • Hops

    How is this only 10?

  • Cory

Hammons is going to be a quality NBA player. He’s the goods.

    • MGoTweeter

I dunno. Guy is crazy soft and just an ok athlete. Could develop, could get blown out of the league in three years

      • Cory

I like the way he works hard out there. Seems there’s always a spot for a guy like that in the league if he keeps it up.

  • MGoTweeter

Michigans defense has fallen apart over the last five minutes.

    • jakelam2116

Yes, very much so. And when Purdue misses, it cleans up the glass.

    • Wayman Britt

Yes, we cannot get any stops.

  • MLaw

Purdue not going away, but our offense is approaching ludicrous speed.

  • Scott Kremkow

    Happy Birthday Jalen Rose!

  • kam

    nice hustle

  • arsenal926

Caris LeVert the best shot blocker of the Beilein era? (kidding… I think?)

  • Scott Kremkow

you cannot stop Caris LeVert you can only hope to contain him

  • Purdue fired up jumpshots over Spike Albrecht on its last four possession. Driving might be a better approach.

    • mazs

plus no effort to post him–and their guards are post-type guards. Makes it easier to play him.

  • kam

    Irvin isn’t shy!

  • Wayman Britt

Take a suitcase with that walk

  • kam

    very nice walton.. step back

  • Cory

Off topic a little, but I always wonder what kind of player Beilein and the staff could have turned Evan Smotrycz into. Would there be significant minutes on this team for him?

    • Mattski

      Not aggressive, quick enough.

      • Cory

Fair enough. I haven’t seen him much for Maryland this year, but I see he’s getting 11 pt per game. Must be primarily at the 3?

      • Indiana_Matt

Sad but true. Seemed like a great kid though.

  • Mattski

    Walton suddenly totally legit.

    • captincork

Hopefully just the beginning! He has looked better and better recently but he sure has turned it on tonight.

  • Scott Kremkow

given how the Hoosiers have looked so far, I want that win Sunday in Assembly Hall

  • A2MIKE

Like the poise Walton is starting to show… Very calm in late clock situations

  • Scott Kremkow

will we add another win to that 80 point streak??

  • Mattski

Four guys in double figures–Morgan, Stauskas, Levert, Walton.

  • MGoTweeter

Thjr had himself a night! 29 point career high

    • Mattski

      Wow, matched Carmelo.

      • Cory

He may be the Knicks best draft pick in recent memory.

  • Scott Kremkow

3 mins to go and we call our first T.O. of the half

  • kam

If you guys didn’t know… caris and Nik put in work this offseason!!

    • kam

every game they say it.. its the new “Nik isn’t just a shooter” saying

      • Cory

…….and Spike scored 17 in the national title game. lol

        • jemblue

Also, I’m not sure, but I think John Beilein’s never been an assistant coach.

    • guestavo

Not bad for potential recruits to hear, instead of “Trey Burke and Tim Hardaway Jr are no longer on this team.”

    • ajerome33

Also just in…Sean Farnham is going o be ripped tomorrow after his time with Sanderson today….

    • arsenal926

why can’t Max Beidfelt’s calves get some more love?

  • kam

    catch the ball morgan haha

  • jakelam2116

What was the line again? 11.5?

    • Cory

      Here comes the cover! lol

      • Cory

        Jinxed it.

  • kam

    They pushed him.. dirty

  • arsenal926

    VEGAS!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • kam

    GOOOO BLUE

  • guestavo

And we still have room to grow.

  • Alex

I think Vegas needs to be put in charge of predictive analytics. They could get KenPom in on it and create the greatest think tank the world has ever done.

Very nice win considering this was a classic letdown. Let’s keep it rolling this weekend. Awesome Timmy that’s nice.

  • mistersuits

    Fifteen turnovers… jeeeeepers.

    • kam

Ya.. But thats very unusual for us. Its probably because of the 3 tough games.. just kinda cruised through this one

  • jakelam2116

How ’bout THJ? Picked him up on my fantasy squad this week and he’s producing. Career-high 29 (granted, against the Cavs).

  • gobluemd16

I don’t know about you guys, but I was really disappointed with that effort. We made basically every shot, and that was good enough to win because they just are not good. But that wasn’t good basketball for a lot of the game, I hope it’s a wake up call. If we played other teams tonight, we would have lost. We gave up 16 O rebounds, they had basically any shot they wanted in the paint (while they couldn’t hit the side of a barn outside it), we turned it over 16 times, and they got to almost every loose ball. I know it was a let down game and a win is a win, but I wasn’t happy with that effort

    • gobluemd16

We should have won by at least 20 points

    • jemblue

Agree that it was not a great effort. A lot of uncharacteristic sloppiness. It’s a win but there was definitely a lot of coaching moments in it. Still 100 times better than what happened to OSU and Wisconsin though.

    • kam

I understand what you’re saying being sloppy.. But they played 3 top 10 teams in a row this normally happens. We don’t usually turn it over like that so it doesn’t worry me.. I doubt they play this sloppy again. But I’m sure they will be awake for that @ IU game.

      • kam

But there is no excuse for 16 TOs and the defensive miscues.. I expected some but 16 TOs is excessive. I remember JB saying he HATES TOs. I’m sure he’s not happy about that

      • gobluemd16

Lack of intensity breeds lack of intensity. Sometimes playing with effort like tonight and thinking you can get away with in because we won leads to let downs and lack of intensity in the future. I just dont like that at all. If we do that against Indiana on the road or Nebraska at home, we will be way more likely to lose. It just builds bad habits

        • kam

i agree 100% but nothing you can really do. every team does it..Hopefully they just don’t do it again

        • Indiana_Matt

Sometimes kids play sloppy. Especially young kids. It happens. We still won fairly easily. That says something about how our offense is clicking at an elite level. I would be surprised if there is any carry over to Sunday.

  • MGoTweeter

Thought pregame that this would be a test of how the young team responded to the highs. Kinda mixed results. they ran the offense to perfection. Except when they inexplicably handed the ball to Purdue. The half court defense was solid until late and on the boards.

Seemed like they basically did enough to ensure they could cruise past Purdue but not enough to show anything elite.

On a side note, I know they probably just wanted to work on the 2-3 against a poor shooting team. But man that is some awful zone defense. Hopefully it gets to stay hidden in the bag unless something weird is happening.

    • kam

Every time they ran that purdue got the offensive rebound.

  • mazs

This game was bound to occur sooner than later. Thank God it occurred against Purdue and at home. But let’s keep it in perspective. It was a win.

  • Cory

A lot of guys on this team remember the Indiana games from last year…….We’ll be ready on Sunday.
