  • MGoTweeter

Wow that clock took forvever to go off

  • arsenal926

    Anybody else shaking?

  • Mattski

    Petteway had to miss something!

  • kam

EVEN on the last play we got burned lol a win is a win tho

  • Jonathan Cummings

BIG heart pressure ball, ahhhh, few

  • Alex

He just threw it up and the ball was bouncing.

  • Ben
  • jakelam2116

complete luck. No way he should miss that.

    • MGoTweeter

Hmm ask jmo or Burke about the B1G title last year

  • Burke_Does_Work

    Morganesque missed tip in

    • jakelam2116

      Easier than the Morgan miss

    • Indiana_Matt

      Sadly, yes.

  • Chezaroo

Dylan, what did they shoot in the 2nd half?

  • jakelam2116

    Turn to ESPN

  • jemblue

We escaped, plain and simple. But a win is a win. MUST work on on-the-ball D and FTs.

  • Wayman Britt

Wow. That was pure luck. If we cannot play better defense. BO and his boys will kill us by 15 at Kohl.

    • Burke_Does_Work

Wisconsin has our number, if we couldn’t beat them last year (screw that game) with the team we had, we definitely won’t be able to win this year when they’re are playing their best basketball in a long time.

  • Burke_Does_Work

So now that I can breathe again. Do we want UCLA to win so that Arizona has their first loss or do we want Arizona to win to make one of our losses look really good? I personally want UCLA to win.

    • guestavo

Arizona to win since we played them.

  • countourzealous

That looked like our worst game of the season thus far. But we came out with a win @ an away environment. Gotta take it, even if it’s Nebraska.

    • guestavo

That looked like our worst game?

    • MGoTweeter

Not even close to michigans worst game. Charlotte, duke and maybe one of the first two games were far worse. Nebraska played well, give some credit

      • countourzealous

They played very well, but Duke & Charlotte are legitimate tournament teams. Nebraska, despite their efforts, is not.

        • MGoTweeter

Not about the quality of the team on paper. Nebraska played better tonight than either Charlotte or duke did against michigan.

    • Mattski

Clearly, you spared yourself the Duke debacle.

      • countourzealous

I definitely watched it, but Jabari Parker is otherworldly, so I don’t really count it anymore XD

        • guestavo

Except he played horrible that game

  • Mattski

A little late, but I just went and popped a baby aspirin. I suggest that anyone with a hint of heart issues do the same!

  • MGoTweeter

Big win. Nebraska played a great game but Michigan played pretty well also.

    • Hops

      On offense…

      • MGoTweeter

Not sure michigan will ever play great on defense. Don’t have the players this year nor the mindset. It is what it is unless mcgary comes back

    • Wayman Britt

MGoTweeter – I don’t know, I thought UM played absolutely terrible on defense it’s not like Nebraska is a good offense team.

      • guestavo

How do you differentiate our bad defensive performances? They all look pretty bad and this one wasn’t any worse.

      • MGoTweeter

I agree they are not great but they played great for them tonight. Some of that is michigans fault but some is also just them making plays they have not before. Good offense beats good defense in basketball

  • jemblue

So, how big was that half court shot by Walton?

    • Hops

Indeed. Walton had the two key offensive plays.

      • MGoTweeter

And three big missed free throws!

    • Dr_ZC

Huge. How small was our effort on D, and at the foul line?

  • Burke_Does_Work

Nebrasketball nearly got us…I’m glad we ruined their first game in that arena

    • jemblue

They’ve got to do something about those colored lights reflecting on the court. It was really annoying and probably distracting for the players.

      • Luke

It wouldn’t be the same angle for the players, but they should definetely still still fix it fro the cameras

    • arsenal926

seemed like it was a great atmosphere there. It’s going to be real tough to win there in the future.

    • Chezaroo

      1st big ten game.

      • Burke_Does_Work

Right, 1st big ten game in the arena

  • Chezaroo

This team will never be a defensive stopper squad. I don’t care how bad our zone is, we have to mix it up occasionally or just accept walk in lay ups endlessly.

    • arsenal926

I don’t have the stats, but I’m willing to bet opponents are scoring a lot more PPP against zone than man. Take away the Florida State game and I imagine it wouldn’t even be close.

      • Chezaroo

Gotta mix it up, we can’t let people walk to the rim unmolested.

        • arsenal926

agree, but until the zone shows any effectiveness I don’t think you can rely on it. Wouldn’t surprise me if they brought it out a bit for their game against PSU

    • Mattski

This is the thing. Just an occasional hard shoulder, no? I mean, they’re stopping to plant FLOWERS, writing their name on the sidewalk!

    • MGoTweeter

Definitely agree with that. Brought it up early in the season but would like to see michigan mix and match more even if the zone doesn’t seem effective. Have to try and force more difficult shots and turnovers.

      • jakelam2116

Yep, look at how effective it was for Nebraska down the stretch. That doesn’t mean they play zone well, but just the new look flustered Michigan.

      • Chezaroo

        Solid.

    • Burke_Does_Work

It’s because we don’t have a shot blocking big. If you had a presence in the post that makes guards constantly wary of where they might be when shooting, you’re winning half of the battle. Morgan and Horford aren’t going to strike fear into anyone, they’re too slow and don’t take up nearly as much space as they need to.

      • MGoTweeter

I don’t care if they have Anthony Davis back there…guards are getting beat too clean for it to matter most of the time

        • Burke_Does_Work

I agree, but we need to have a last line of defense, so to speak. Someone who is gonna protect the rim at all costs.

      • countourzealous

It’s almost like we are missing someone….

      • jemblue

Horford’s actually a pretty good shot blocker. But he goes vertical too much when he should just stand his ground.

  • Mattski

Big buckets by absolutely everyone down the stretch. But the D is sometimes downright disgraceful.

    • Mattski

      Five guys in double figures.

  • Chezaroo

Can we all say THANK YOU to Jordan Morgan for his perseverance and his dedication to TEAM.

    • jemblue

Yep. At one time I was wondering if he’d even come back for his fifth year.

  • Dave

The B1G is tough on the road. The free throw shooting was awful and the defense substandard, but winning ugly is better than losing. :)

  • Indiana_Matt

And FSU, Charlotte and Arizona won tonight. Added bonus.

  • Indiana_Matt

Glenn Robinson alley-oop was awesome. tinyurl.com/plpdrne

  • Cory

Rewatching it right now. Walton Jr’s “and 1” and Joe Tessitorre is talking like he’s at a funeral. COME ON!

  • gobluemd16

I am surprised reading this back through that more of you didn’t talk about the defense. Literally all they had to do was run a high ball screen and it was a layup probably 7 of the last 8 possessions of the game. So lucky we were hitting everything on offense and JMo and Nik were great, because anything less than 60% shooting and we werent winning that game. The only thing on offense we weren’t hitting were FREE throws, this has become a really bad trend now too. Gotta make them at a much higher clip.
