Mitch McGary is sidelined indefinitely but the season goes on. Michigan looks to end the non-conference season on some sort of high note as Holy Cross travels to Ann Arbor for a Saturday evening contest.

Tip off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. from the Crisler Center and Eric Collins and Steven Bardo will handle broadcasting duties for the Big Ten Network. Join in the discussion below before, during and after the game.

Pre-Game Reading:

  • MGoTweeter

    Let’s Go Blue!

  • Mattski

Should be a relatively low-anxiety evening of watching Michigan basketball and football! Not that we necessarily win the latter, but the stakes are pretty low there, too.

    • MGoTweeter

Agree on football but holy cross is at least a competitive team and this game, at least in terms of winning, is pretty important.

  • Kam

The only thing I’m interested in seeing is who starts.. Jon or Morgan

  • Jordan Morgan in the starting lineup today with McGary sidelined.

    • Kam

      lol whelp thanks!

  • Chezaroo

Man, there is hardly anybody here!

  • GR3 looks very confident with his jump shot early.. Few defensive breakdowns for Michigan though.. open threes, missed box outs. 9-8 at the first TV timeout.

    • Chezaroo

His last shot was halfway down.

      • Yep. He’s shooting confidently and looks good. Also notice the first bucket he was the ball screener on the pick-and-pop.

  • Mattski

Great movement on that last bucket by Caris.

  • Kam

Caris is great in transition.. He really likes to push the ball

  • Chezaroo

Love our energy even though the crowd is light.

  • Holy Cross is not very good in transition defense… Michigan finding open shooters and getting to the rim pretty easily in unsettled situations.

  • Mattski

Sweet bucket by a cleverly opportunistic Nik.

  • Chezaroo

    No answer for Glen

    • He looks terrific for the third game in a row.

      • Mattski

Not sure I have ever quite seen that move!

        • Kam

          You mean the lay up?

          • Mattski

The way he moved it to his left hand; was it not all that amazing? Is that what you’re hinting?

          • Kam

happens in the NBA a lot haha.. i wasn’t that impressed.. i like his pull up jumpers!!

      • guestavo

        Houston Baptist not counting?

  • Holy Cross hanging around with some great shooting but can’t stop Michigan’s offense at all. If Michigan can string a couple stops together before halftime, it should be able to pull away a bit.

    • Chezaroo

Definately need to get some stops. This is a team we should be able to control with a good effort.

  • Holy Cross plays terrible transition defense — can’t find people when Michigan pushes off of a clean defensive rebound.

  • Kam

They are making 24 foot 3s

  • Mattski

They’re like puppies–one minute they’re amazing themselves with their feats of derring-do, the next they’re falling off the bed. You like the idea that they’re so creative, but you’d wish for just a bit more discipline.

  • Mattski

Horford checked this board before he went out there tonight.

    • Chezaroo

      Lot of wisdom here!

  • Kam

Keep feeding Jon! Lets see what he can do

    • Kam

      haha nevermind

  • Michigan 1.37 PPP, Holy Cross .98 PPP

    Michigan: 65 eFG%, 13% TO Rate, 31% OR Rate, 33% FTA/FGA
    Holy Cross: 48 eFG%, 6.5% TO Rate, 17% OR Rate, 0% FTA/FGA

    • Holy Cross has relied on production at the free throw line all season and Michigan did a great job of taking that away (0 FTAs).

Holy Cross hit some *deep* trees and made 47% of its twos. For the most part the Crusaders worked for the offense they got.

Michigan’s offense has feasted in transition… HC isn’t picking anyone up and it’s been a simple rebound+push, repeat.

Horford, Morgan both had a few nice plays in the first half, not a lot to complain about there.

  • Kam

He just said caris comes of the bench……

    • guestavo

      Meaning what?

      • Kam

The guy calling the game didn’t know he was a starter

        • Mattski

I like these guys, actually. Just calling the game, rather than attention to themselves.

          • Kam

I like them too aha but they made a mistake

  • Kam

That pick and roll with glenn is nice!

  • Nice to see JoMo score off the ball screen. He’s always been great at slipping it like that and Stauskas has the size to make that pass – similar to Darius Morris.

  • Kam

Game recap it looks like glenn will get the top spot! Playing well

  • Smooth sailing for Michigan in the second half. Positive to see Jon and JoMo both do some good things out there.

HC’s wings are just completely overwhelmed by Michigan’s group though.

  • Chezaroo

Time to go to the bench. Always worried about injuries when it gets ragged like this.

  • Kam

Good win.. Glenn Nik Caris The bigs all play well… Heck everyone did at least pretty good

  • guestavo

Good win. Now on to a pivotal game against Minnesota.
