Pre-Game Reading:

  • MLaw

They won’t miss any in the last 30 seconds.

  • MLaw

    Son of a bitch.

  • Kam

should have just could him. it was crappy FT shooter Gordon

  • Mattski

    Nik too quick.

  • guestavo

We’re about to lose because of a QUESTIONABLE touch foul.

    • Adam St Patrick

Shoulda boxed out better all game long.

  • MLaw

    Not the guy you want.

  • MLaw

Arizona shooting 100% FT for the game.

  • Ben

Foul there best free shooter after a timeout

    • Mgomedschool

He got the ball what else do you want them to do?

  • Kam

who’s gonna take the shot. I think its Nik caris or spike

  • Ben

How the &*((&^ do u foul him….after a timeout. BAD

    • Kam

He had the ball with 9 second…

  • Adam St Patrick

You’re Stauskas. You have the ball and the other team just got a touch foul. Why the heck you shoot a jumper?

    • MechE

Ok, take a break for a minute

  • Andrew

Have to defend better. The work on ball screens down the stretch was atrocious. The work was terrible. They accepted screens and switches and it killed them. Coach b and staff need to pick a strategy and get the guys doing it. This game was there for the taking

    • Adam St Patrick

Agreed. But, pete’s sakes, BOX OUT.

      • guestavo

You do realize they are an elite rebounding team? Our margin wasn’t bad by any stretch of the imagination.

  • guestavo

You would think we would have home court advantage.

  • Kam

    JEEZ

  • Kam

Jeez u have to deny him

  • MLaw

    I hate everything.

  • Ben

AND foul best ft shooter AGAIN- pathetic close

  • guestavo

We all know who really won this game.

    • Dirty Mike

      yeah Arizona.

  • Andrew

Why him again. Face guard the guy. Jeez. Bad loss. Should have won this game

    • guestavo

Dude give it a break. The number one team needed the ref to bail them out to win.

    • Alex

It’s a stinging loss. Can’t be a bad loss playing the Number 1 team in the country. Just kind of deflating. Hope the team stays together and just takes it one day at a time. This is not the time to be the best team in the country. Just have to get better as the season continues.

  • Ben

COACH – – DONT FOUL THEBEST FT SHOOTER GUARD HIM

    • Kam

      WE GET YOUR POINT

  • Ben

    POOR COACHING DOWN STRETCH

  • Ben

We can play wit anyone. AZ not that good

  • guestavo

I’m on the Spike as a starter bandwagon now. I can admit that I was wrong.

    • guestavo

This game was night and day with Walton.

    • jemblue

Yeah, we’re just out of synch with Walton out there.

      • Mattski

Doesn’t mean it has to stay like that; dunno why fans always assume these things are static.

        • jemblue

I’m making no assumptions about the future. I’m just saying that *right now*, that’s the case.

  • Ben

disappointing again. This team needs to learn how to close and win close games.

  • Mattski

    Painful. That phantom foul hurt.

  • Kam

That touch foul was BS.. shouldn’t call that ever

  • Ben

Walton struggled. For all those that say we don’t need more pgs to recruit…whatever……

    • Kam

He is a freshman.. Its possible to improve

      • guestavo

He has a LONG way to go. No excuse for Spike not to start from here out. That drought in the second half cost us.

        • Kam

Spike should def get more minutes if not start

      • Ben

yes- and he will but we need more than 2 true point guards

        • Kam

          2?? stop it

  • umnyc

Our freshman clearly are not ready. I think we got spoiled by trey and Tim. Walton reminds me of Darius his freshman season… Not ready

    • Ben

Where was Indiana Mr Basketball today?

    • jemblue

Tim was pretty bad the first half of his freshman year too. Remember, that was when we started out 1-6 in the Big Ten. Then the lightbulb clicked on and he was a monster.

  • mich

Turnovers and baskets 5ft from the rim for Arizona cost us this game. I’m really surprised Michigan turned the ball over so much this game, considering Arizonas lineup

    • Ben

Im surprised your not blaming the loss on DJ Wilson

  • guestavo

I swear this disqus is messed up. Everyone is named Ben lol.

  • Mattski

We were so close to silencing a lot of horse pucky about how great this good Arizona basketball team is. Forced to agree that it would be nice to call on some clampdown D down the stretch in this games. Seems like we spend quite a lot of games hanging on for dear life in the closing minutes.

    • Adam St Patrick

“Young team on the road in a hostile atmosphere”, right? Incorporating two five-star freshmen into their lineup. They executed down the stretch.quite impressively. And, they boxed out. And Michigan failed to be smart and get their own whistle once the precedent had been established.

I was pretty impressed by Arizona. They probably feel they could have won by 10-15 given the layups they missed.

  • Chris De Sana

For those that say we only have 2 pt guards I would think many here think Caris could run the point. In the end it seemed we got out coached and executed, that combo was too much to over come even playing at home.

  • guestavo

Can anyone say that they haven’t seen considerable growth so far?

    • guestavo

AND ATLEAST OSU WONT BE NUMBER ONE

  • Andrew

Michigan is a good team. Sadly, they lost to their three quality opponents, which hurts. Much like last year, to go to the next level, though I think the next level is lower this year, they need to be organized and aggressive on d. They need a plan on screens. It was chicken with a head cut off for a bit there.

    • umnyc

Agreed. Saw a lot of good play today, which leads you to believe we’ll be there at the end of the season.

  • Mattski

Tweets like this going up at CBS: “Down 8 with 7 to go Arizona scored on 7 straight possessions — Final Four caliber stuff”

    • guestavo

No team is head and shoulders above the pack so networks like CBS has to create the narrative.

  • Allenruiz

I believe they will start clicking after this game and really make a good run, refs got Arizona back close with crap calls. Thats CBS for you though, every game that way.

  • MLaw

That game against Charlotte is crushing us now. If we were 7-3 with losses to 3 top 25 teams with two on the road and one to #1 I don’t think we are nearly as down on this team. Have to hope the team rebounds better mentally than the fans. Big ten will be brutal, but our schedule sets up pretty nicely with some big road opportunities early and late.

  • Chris De Sana

Amazed we never had Mitch and Horford in the game at the same time. Horford did a nice job of protecting the rim on the defensive side of the ball and having them both in the game would have helped close the rebounding edge.

    • guestavo

      No offense

  • gobluemd16

It wasn’t the reason we lost the game, obviously the interior D and lack of defensive rebounding were, but does anyone have video or a GIF of Mcgary’s foul with 21ish seconds left?

  • guestavo

McGary only played around 20 minutes. We have to get his conditioning up.

    • gobluemd16

I don’t think it was conditioning, I think Horford was holding down the paint better on defense. He blocked a ton of shots and with Mitch doing almost nothing on the offensive side, I didn’t mind Jon playing more mins at all. I think this was a coaching decision

      • guestavo

Jon played awesome but I still think we haven’t seen a fully healthy McGary.

        • gobluemd16

I would agree with that too. I just think today, Mitch could have played more mins but the coaches chose to play Jon more instead. I agree with their decision.
