Michigan returns to action in an early Saturday tip-off against Houston Baptist at the Crisler Center. The Wolverines will look to get back on track a week before a marquee game against Arizona next Saturday.

Pre-Game Reading

  • MGoTweeter

Beilein really trying to get Mitch to go easy but appears doc said he is ok

  • Mattski

    Nik doing work.

  • Ed Hightower’s last game at Michigan. Kind of sad to see for all of his ups and downs.

    • Wayman Britt

Yes, but we still are going to have TV Teddy.

  • McGary back in the game.

  • Michigan needs to practice fast breaks.

    • Indiana_Matt

Nostalgia alert: Man, remember how great the Fab Five were on the break, as far as timing and spacing. Sometimes their zeal for the big play led to turnovers, but the fundamentals of running the break that they exhibited seem to be sort of a lost art.

  • Kam

Why did Nik throw that up for Glenn when Caris was wide open?

  • MGoTweeter

Michigan has gotten way too lob happy. Just make the easy play

  • gobluemd16

I have done this more recently, especially after we lose games, but I like to watch the games we lose over again the day or more afterwards. It takes the emotion (usually anger when watching) out of it, and I can just focus on how our players performed. Mgovideo usually has these streams. But I have noticed a lot this year, especially against Duke and today, our wings do not box out. Like, hardly ever. They either just stand by their man, or run by the rim and swing their arms trying to rebound. They don’t really box their guys out. It hurt a ton against Duke, and it will down the road if it doesnt get fixed. Nik is a especially big culprit of this

    • Kam

Ive seen that too..Caris does but he gets thrown out of the way.. Its a problem

  • Kam

It looks soooo sloppy and strange but oh well!

  • MGoTweeter

Ugly second half but at least hbu has cooled off

    • gobluemd16

I was thinking the same, but hard to keep focus when you are up 37 points against a severely inferior team

  • Kam

I don’t have a problem with Mitch taking it. He seems to do it pretty well. He also seems when to know when to do it. He does seem to jump in the air often but i can hope he knows what he is doing

  • jemblue

So do we crack triple-digits today? Still 9:31 to go.

  • McGary dominating the game. Looks to be having as much fun on the floor as he has all season except maybe a few stretches against FSU.

  • Kam

Mitch getting the top spot on Dylans bulletin board player report today! haha

  • Alex

McGary ha ha ha. He is so awesome. That is a good point though. The fact that he can act like a big point guard. Holy heck teams better be prepared for that. Forget Stauskas, Walton, or LeVert. Vote for McGary for point guard (and Pedro while you’re at it.) I’m joking of course. Sort of.

  • Wayman Britt

We are such a better team when we get dribble drives to the hoop

    • Kam

Very true.. But lets remember its much easier to get dribble drives when you play a sub 300 ranked team haha

  • MontuckyYooper

Can this guy PLEASE stop it with the freight train stuff?

  • Seth Davis quoting Zak Irvin’s weak spot.. 67% free throw shooting… when he was 2-of-3 :-)

  • jemblue

I love it. This is a good confidence game for everyone.

  • Alex

This just shows how far this program has come. Zak Irvin is on the mop up squad (for now of course). A few years ago he would have been starting. I truly think this team is going to get better as the season goes on and will make us proud. Nice rebound performance by the way. I also have faith in Beilein. The guy can flat out coach and has proven it time and time again. All right finish the game strong guys.

  • Wayman Britt

I wonder if other team will try splitting our defenders on the pic after watching this game.

  • Walk-ons checking in to the game with Michigan up 101-51.

  • jemblue

    Bielfeldt – taking over!

  • guestavo

Somehow just woke up… Did Levert not play? Is Irvin getting more minutes this game?

    • guestavo

I’m starting to notice a trend with Glenn and Nik and level of competition…
McGary with 6 assist and Walton with multiple 3s is comforting.
Spike seems to be logging major minutes?

      • guestavo

Good game by our frontcourt looking at the boxscore. We’ll see if they grow or shrink against the best frontline in America.

        • Kam

yup Zona is huge and talented.. It wont be as easy

      • Kam

Caris played he just didn’t really do much. mitch was amazing he was running the fest break all game and making passes.. And irvin shot really well.

      • Andrew24

Except Nik has been playing well all year…he had one bad game against a top team thats game plan was to deny him the ball.

        • guestavo

We will be playing top teams more often than not

    • Kam

Oh and you couldn’t tell much from this game.. They were very bad. they shot 66% from the field in the first half and were still down 24. basically practice. Just great confidence booster

      • guestavo

Hopefully it carries over unlike the Coppin St game

        • Kam

Yup.. we honestly could have played 2 walk ons and sat 2 starters and won. But i agree hopefully it carries over.. Everyone was having fun though. Great game to watch

  • jemblue

Yes! Dakich was the last remaining player not to score this season, IIRC.

  • ben

Could I make a suggestion that one of the Five Key Plays clips be a compilation of every time McGary turned a defensive rebound into a fast break?

  • Paul Anderberg

Always fun to win, but please don’t try to tell me that this game means ANYTHING.

    • Mattski

Okay, I won’t. But the coaches certainly would.

  • Fred Z in Ann Arbor

Mitch running the break is a joy to behold. White LeBron!
