Trey Burke named Sports Illustrated’s National Player of the Year

IMG_4079_thumb[1]Trey Burke picked up his first Player of the Year honor today, this one from Sports Illustrated.

Michigan sophomore point guard Trey Burke has been named Sports Illustrated’s men’s college basketball Player of the Year. The announcement is scheduled to appear in this week’s SI NCAA tournament preview issue.

Burke becomes Michigan’s first national player of the year since Cazzie Russell was named NCAA Player of the Year in 1966.

Burke was also named a USBWA First Team All-American on Monda and is Michigan’s first USBWA All-American since Jalen Rose.
