Michigan 68, Purdue 53

Purdue carried its recent hot shooting into Ann Arbor for a match-up with the No. 2 ranked Wolverines but it wasn’t enough. The Boilermakers hit five of their first seven three point attempts and led throughout most of the first half. Despite shooting 54% on triples in the first half, Purdue led by just one point at the break and would regress toward the mean in the second.

The Boilermakers missed all nine three point attempt in the second half as the Wolverines pulled away for a routine 15 point victory. Four Wolverines reached double figures with Trey Burke, Tim Hardaway Jr., Glenn Robinson III and Nik Stauskas scoring between 12 and 15 points. Once Purdue came back to Earth from 3, they were noticeably less confident everywhere else. Jordan Morgan played a horrible around the rim and is looking to get surpassed by McGary for floor time.

Lots of coachable moments tonight. Good to see Horford in action again. Team shook off the rust of a week long layoff now they’ll have to maintain crazy focus over the next three weeks.

If Illinois comes out shooting 3s like Purdue did tonight it could spell trouble for Michigan — can’t tighten up like vs Ohio with #1 on the line, have to play relaxed and disciplined.

did anyone else who was at the game have a hard time with disqus? I could not get the comments to load for the life of me once I got inside Crisler.
