Scouting Video: Keita Bates-Diop at GRBA Nationals

John Beilein kept a close eye on Keita Bates-Diop at the GRBA Nationals in Fort Wayne last weekend. As one of three 2014 prospects with a Michigan offer. Bates-Diop was impressive, earning MVP honors at the 16U level and leading his Illinois Wolves squad to the tournament championship. Here’s footage of Bates-Diop in action:

Thanks Joe for this video and the earlier scouting report. Hope Keita ends up at Michigan!

  • Steve2081

He would look really good on the wing of the 1-3-1.

KBD is a beast. 2014 and 2015 classes could be even better than 2012 and 2013…if that’s even possible!

  • Wayman Britt

We just gotta get us some Keita Bates-Diop.

  • DingoBlue

He looks very smooth with good length. Also authoritative dunks!

    • FGCU Maize Rage

If I had to describe Bates-Diop in 10 words, it would be exactly that. This kid should be a top-25 talent by the time he graduates.

  • GregGoBlue

Smooth athlete, willing rebounder. Get this kid in Maize N’ Blue!

  • SamGoBlue

I’m going to sound like a little bit of a downer here, but I’m not blown away by KBD here and wasn’t at the Beilein Camp this year either. Don’t get me wrong, I hope he comes to Michigan because I think his potential is through the roof, but he doesn’t show me a ton here. Great length, average athleticism, good rebounder, but not great shooting, not extremely authoritative, and he has some trouble finishing. I’m sure he will fix all his issues in a couple years, but he’s certainly not a finished product yet.

  • Higgins Bald Head

He sucks! Ball hog, awful shooter, scrawny,…time to move on!

    • jblair52

and yet he has offers from Kansas State, Northwestern, Illinois, Purdue, DePaul, Michigan and Wisconsin….yyyyeah okay

  • Michigan Man 15

I’m a little confused as to why there are some negative comments about him on here….after watching that video I am more impressed with his potential then any of the current Michigan recruits. He still has a couple more years to get stronger and work on the details of his game which combined with his frame and skill set could make him a very elite college player.

    • KRN

Agree. I think he has the potential to be a five star recruit if he keeps adding weight and improving his finishing ability.

    • SamGoBlue

Higgins Bald Head is clearly just trolling, but if you read my comment I’m not really ripping on the kid at all. I’m just saying at this point he’s a raw talent that has a little ways to go before he may become the elite player he has the potential to be.

      • Steve2081

I think people understand that. That is why you did not get any little downy arrows. :)

      • Michigan Man 15

Well then i agree with what your saying 100%. My mistake.
