Pre-Game Reading

Horrendous effort today. Caught looking ahead to Tuesday maybe?

    • vaneasy2338

      thats what we said weds…

  • maxwell’s demon

I really thought after our pathetic effort vs. NW we would be focused today. Couldn’t have been more wrong. Iowa doesn’t even look good.

    • this iowa team is terrible. they just have a ton of energy today.

  • we can still win this if we put together a consistent ten minutes of basketball.

    • vaneasy2338

at least we had a good start

  • MGoTweeter

    omg Burke

  • vaneasy2338

amazing how many open shots we have missed…followed by a turrible call

  • Michigan isn’t going to beat a lot of teams when Tim Hardaway Jr. is 2-11 (0-6 3pt).

  • these kids are selling out not even close to balanced. attack the lead foot and make them foul.

  • Mattski

Wow, down 14? Okay, we suck. :)

  • Wayman Britt

Beilein is going to have his work cut out for him to get UM back on track for Tuesday

    • vaneasy2338

we have bigger problems than tuesday right now

  • my god we look tired out there, eh?

    • Wayman Britt

That’s why your bench needs to repond, but we just don’t have the talent on the bench and Horford is hurt.

  • Wayman Britt

I know Smot has a laid back personality, but the last 4 games it looks like he does not even want to be playing.

  • Ace_maker4

Just a poor effort from pretty much the whole team today and that includes the coaching staff.

  • skitchbeatz

im afraid its going to be too little too late

  • MGoTweeter

Burke has the stu douglass “must shoot from two feet beyond nba range” disease today.

  • vaneasy2338

every player on the team needs to a good hard look at the past two games…

  • bone

looking forward, we cant afford to sit burke at any, and i mean any, time.

    • i don’t think running a freshman into the ground when a big part of his game is 3 point shots is going to be helpful.

      • bones

was really talking about sitting him in the first half. we cannot play with anyone with him on the bench.  tired?  a chance id take for this team.

  • i still think we could win if we played even a good five minutes. i don’t anticipate us doing so but this iowa team is not good.

    • MGoTweeter

certainly could, need to get stops

  • vaneasy2338

michigan athletics apparently enjoys losing to far inferior Iowa teams this season

    • Acone56

Obviously the evidence shows Iowa is not inferior; in fact they are much better than Mich today. This game show that teams including Mich can not give less than 100 percent ever or they risk the chance of this outcome.

      • Guest

        Obviously this is obvious.

  • that’s terrible. get the freaking loose ball.

  • MGoTweeter

just plain out worked.  michigan players standing around watching iowa get on the floor for the ball

  • vaneasy2338

    fantastic transition defense

  • Acone56

Could or shooting be any worse?

  • bones

im going to forget about this game as soon as its over and start looking forward to tuesday. if i dwell too much on today itll ruin my weekend.

    • MGoTweeter

im just gonna go with the drink until i dont remember anything method

  • this is what a tired michigan team looks like. it’s ugly. when your legs are gone you can’t turn the ball over and you can’t hit threes. no reason to panic in the short term but it doesn’t bode well for tournament play.

    • Wayman Britt

not having Horford is beginning to show

      • i don’t think blake played badly today. evan and tim couldn’t shoot it at all and our perimeter defense slowed down after an ok start. that was the biggest problem.

  • goblue8

Most pathetic effort i have seen since the 2009-2011 team

    • MGoTweeter

last year at indiana, at nw, and home against minny were just as bad

  • maxwell’s demon

Man, thank god Beilein sat Burke. He was really in danger of fouling out.

    • MGoTweeter

UM didnt lose b/c burke sat out.  the team just played awful all game long.

      • maxwell’s demon

There is absolutely no defending the decision to bench him for the remainder of the half.

        • MGoTweeter

im not in favor of or against the decision, i’m just saying that did not cost this team the game.

          • maxwell’s demon

I think it at least contributed. I highly doubt we would have been down 10 at half. But I’m not disagreeing that this was a pathetic effort, and I mean that literally, there was no effort. Hardaway and Smotrycz also continue to show that they are extremely temperamental shooters.

  • MGoTweeter

morgan why are you fouling thirty feet from the basket?  stupid stupid stupid team today

  • Wblue

We haven’t played a single good game in conference this season, and it’s about time for someone other than Novak to step up, and Beilein to give us a chance to win

    • Joel_C

      Beating Wisconsin by 18?
Taking Indiana to the wire in Bloomington?

    • eddieben

If Novak stepped up today, Gatens wouldnt have destroyed him on the offensive end

  • Joel_C

Tough loss – but I love that we never, NEVER quit on a game. And we’ll STILL technically be ahead of Indiana & Ohio St in the conference. Compare that to this point in the season last year.

    • goblue8

We quit on this game the minute it started, pathetic effort al game

  • Wayman Britt

This is off topic, but nothing happening on the court.

Is C. Brundridge that bad of a player that he cannnot even get into this game?  Beilein has a history of playing freshman.  CB must have been way over rated.

    • MGoTweeter

he just has not looked ready to play college basketball moreso than he does not have the skill to play.  He needs to get quicker and learn the defense and offense.

      • Adam

Do we know that he doesn’t know the offense and defense or is that just the cliche answer that everyone likes to give? Neither the offense nor defense seems too difficult to where someone shouldn’t have a grasp of it 3 months into the season now

Just don’t understand how Stu and Zack were ready to play as freshmen but CB is not… CB was WAYYYYY higher rated

    • i think the kids got some skills but the holes in his game are keeping him off the floor. reserve judgement until next year.

  • Wblue

I wish Belein would take the starters out now that this is out of hand than in the first half, but we were obviously looking ahead to MSU, the rest of our season will pretty much be decided by that game

    • MGoTweeter

how exactly will the other eleven conference games be decided by the State game?

      • Wayman Britt

I agree.  Not sure what Wblue is saying

  • Grey Blue

Michigan’s worst performance in a long while, but it is only one loss.   There will be better days but how soon?.

    • MGoTweeter

      tomorrow?

  • wolverine_longhorn

I say we declare victory, because Trey Burke didn’t foul out.

  • not a great effort today from the boys. just tired legs i hope. let’s see if we can get them back for tuesday.

  • MGoTweeter

ok boys time to drink heavily.

  • Alex

Just one game. No need to hit the panic button. This team will get it together.
