    Wow. Just wow.

  • Steele

I feel like crying. That was awesome.

  • Awesome is about the last word I would use to explain it.

  • Gary

    How about painful?

  • Forty

From where we were a year ago, I’ll take this any day of the week…I understand the hesitance to celebrate, but we’re not Duke.

  • Bennis

We just received a late christmas present from Indiana… exciting game, but I don’t want to have any more 20 point comebacks this season.

  • SubAlum06

Ugly for sure, but perhaps a true ‘signature’ win. Didn’t give up down 20 in 2nd half.

  • AG

That’s two 20 point comebacks. Amaker’s teams never had the mental toughness to do this.

  • Giddings

But his team had the mental toughness tonight to beat BC…

Go Blue is all I have to say.

  • UMDC

    I don’t have a clue what to think anymore…. amazing, crazy, frightening…. I don’t know…

  • Giddings

My bet is CJ wins the +/-

  • Kenny

    BC lost to Harvard tonight.

  • MattNYC

CJ Lee stepped up big time and pretty much turned this from a loss to a win.

Big win, but not a good win by any means. Ugly, ugly first half, ugly 2nd half at times, uguly overtime as well. IU is bad. UM seems to be struggling with the raised expectations. Hopefully Coach get get their heads on straight as they can’t afford any more performances like this against the doormat teams.

  • Michigan only tightens up there D when they are down big. They play so loose the first halves of games- its maddening. This is the third game in a row where the opposing team shoots +45%(ish) in the first half- that needs to stop. Tight Defense, all game.

  • aaron

that was BAD…Indiana deserved to win it, we simply got lucky, sure we hit the shots we HAD to hit, but it should never ever have even come close to that point, hats off to IU, as for us we need to respect all of our opponents

  • Giddings

Benjamin, at least those 1st half percentages are decreasing!

    Wisconsin: 65%
    Illinois: 59%
    Indiana: 50%

  • Giddings, lol…

decreasing with the quality of the opponent…

  • AG

Well, think of it this way. With BC losing to Harvard and Maryland losing to Morgan State, isn’t it nice to be the team that *survived* the upset bid?

  • Bill

Did anyone catch Crean after the game. Flew past Beilein with barley a hand shake. I can’t remember any Big Ten coach acting like that. I used to have respect for the guy but he didn’t show much.

I can’t imagine Izzo acting like that I guess he didn’t learn much from working with Tom.

Hell when michigan lost to wisconsin John shook everyones hand and said nice things to all. He’s done that every game.

Anyway a win is a win but these guys need to be ready every game they need at least 9 to 10 wins plus a tournament win to get in. Don’t see any easy games and they don’t play IU again.

  • Jay

A win is a win. This team just doesn’t have the roster to physically dominate people, which means that any game can be tight if they don’t shoot well and the other team does.

On a small positive note, could we attribute this team’s ability to play better in the second half to superior conditioning? Bruce Weber thought his guys were fatigued in the second half against us. Maybe teams can’t sustain their shooting in the second half because they’re tired. Who knows.

12-3, 2-1 is great at this point.

  • Guys, I can’t believe what I am hearing. Let’s keep a few things in mind.

We are still a young team. Outside of Sims, our juniors and seniors average 13-14 points a game. Sims gives us another 14 and the rest (45/game) comes from freshman and sophomores. When you have that kind of youth, you are going to get games like this and Savannah State, Wisconsin and Eastern. But you will also get games like Duke and UCLA.

This team was down 20 a minute and a half into the second half. They never quit. They fought back and overcame. That says a lot about this team. More good than bad.

In past years we knew what was coming. We would go into the B10 season 13-1 and then tank because we never improved through a season. Does anyone really think we’ll do that Amaker tailspin and crash making us have to hope to get into the NIT? No chance in hell. We may not make the NCAA tourney (I think we will), but I really think that this team will fight every game and never quit. We will be a bubble team, more likely than not, but I think we’ll bubble in this year, not out.

I am looking forward to the rest of the season. We don’t have Amaker, we have coach B! He’s a great coach and his team will compete every night. It’s great to be a wolverine basketball fan again!

  • Jay

The real Jay posting (not the one from above who swagger jacked my moniker)

But another can look at it in many ways, they didnt show up and struggled or they fought hard through adversity, which seems to be a great sign to see from a young team. I still dont like the 3 point barrage we seem to go on alot of times, especially when its not falling. I just feel we settle for that 3 ball so much, even when we could get a better shot with one more pass. At one point both teams had 47 fg attempts, but UM had 30 3pt attempts and IND had 4-5 more fg makes. Out of those 30 3 pt attempts, there has to be a higher % shot on a few of those bombs away possesions?

  • Kenny

IU should’ve hired Beilein when they hired Sampson. We are lucky that they passed on him.

  • Bl11

The good / bad news is that from here on out…purdue is the lowest ranked RPI team we play the rest of the year. RPI should take care of its self as long as we take care of business

  • jamie mac

I’m just surprised nobody has seen a hoops coach give a quick hand shake after a game before……sheesh happens all the time, its not a social.

When you’re trying to get your first NCAA bid in over a decade, every win is a big one.

Keep on improving, and winning, and it will leave the comittee no doubt come selection day.

  • Giddings

Crean really went after the refs in his postgame comments for not calling at foul on CJ’s fast break steal with 30 seconds left. Said that “most teams, most years, most times would have been on the foul line after that fast break… but I guess tradition won’t do it, history won’t do it, we’re Indiana and Indiana has to do it themselves” or something.

  • jmblue

I just watched the highlights and postgame reaction on BTN. Crean whined about the officials not calling a foul with 35 seconds left in regulation. Good coach, but he’s as whiny as his mentor (Izzo).

  • jamie mac

In Hoosier land, Crean is taking any heat away from the players by gone nutso on the refs in the presser…….thats how the fanbase defended/justified all the meltdowns and flippant antics of Knight.

  • Jacob

CJ was huge and has definitely cemented himself as my favorite player…both threes and that strip, which looked clean to me, were big time.

But all in all, let’s just forget about this game and just chalk it up as another one in the win column.

  • jamie mac

What a coaching substitution just to put CJ in there…..he hasn’t been playing much, especially down the stretch…..what a night for him.

  • jmblue

I’m really happy for him. He’s one of the most vocal players I’ve ever seen on the bench, almost like another coach.

  • DC Dave

That play at the end by Lee looked pretty clean to me. Crean ought to be questioning why his players can’t execute a simple 2-1 fast break or have the presence of mind to pull it out and work the clock. He’s right about one thing, though. Indiana used to get some outrageous calls in their favor at home and this game seemed pretty evenly called to me. Actually, throughout the Big 10 homecourt advantage used to include a lot of beneficial officiating – it was just worst in Bloomington. I haven’t noticed that as much this year. Anyone else?

  • I just realized that Manny cannot dribble a basketball?

  • Giddings

Agree on the officiating… at least in our games, I thought that Wisco and Illinois got a lot of calls at Crisler, and we got a lot of calls tonight. Surprising.
