Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman sparks Michigan’s second half run

Following Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman’s nine-point, four-rebound performance against Nebraska on Tuesday afternoon, Beilein compared him to a former NBA great.

“I can remember when Randy Smith was with the Buffalo Braves — I’m really dating myself,” the Michigan coach laughed. “He’d just run by people. And people would try and get in front of him. You’d say, ‘How is he going by him?’ And he would just do it. [Abdur-Rahkman] just can run by people on the fast break. And he doesn’t even know what he’s doing yet.”

Game 21: Nebraska at Michigan Recap

It took 20 minutes, but Michigan finally looked like Michigan again in the second half of its 14 point home victory over Nebraska. Even if the names and faces were still unfamiliar. The Wolverines were without Caris LeVert, Derrick Walton and Mark Donnal, but were still able to knock off the Huskers in a comfortable 58-44 win.

Even without Derrick Walton, Mark Donnal or Caris LeVert, the Michigan basketball team managed to grind out a 58-44 win over Nebraska on Tuesday night. After the victory, John Beilein spoke about Walton’s injury, which may be serious enough to sideline him against Michigan State. He also commended Zak Irvin for his rebounding and assist numbers and compared Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman to a 1970s NBA player.
