LLP Cancels Wake Trip; Practice Facility?

Laval Lucas-PerryLLP has cancelled his Wake Forest trip, definetely positive sign for the Maize and Blue according to his father.

“I would say this is a good sign for Michigan, that’s for sure,” Laval Perry told The Detroit News about his son’s cancelled visit.

Jordan Morgan’s father told the Detroit News that a practice facility would be completed in three years. Very good news indeed for Michigan basketball fans.

Jordan Morgan, a junior center from the University of Detroit Jesuit, made a verbal commitment to attend Michigan on Tuesday. His father, Jim Morgan, said U-M coach John Beilein’s recruiting pitch included news that the facility would be done in three years.

Not So Fast

LLP will be taking more visits. Mark Snyder reports:

“The meeting went very well,” Lucas-Perry’s father, Laval Perry, said tonight. “There was no (decision) but i think Laval and coach Beilein would be a very interesting pair. Laval still wants to see his options but he gained admiration and respect for coach Beilein. Everything he read about coach Beilein came to be true. They became very attached in their conversations.”

Meanwhile Lacy reports that LLP has an offer from Wake Forest and may be visiting there as soon as today. However Lacy also says that LLP would like to reach a decision this week. Hopefully Beilein can close the deal on this one.

Two Recruiting Updates

Jordan Morgan ($) update over on Scout, he has picked a date to announce. This one will go in favor of the Maize and Blue as has been pretty evident since his recent offer.

Lacy continues to be on the top of the Laval Lucas-Perry recruitment, the meeting with Beilein is tomorrow and this one should also goto the Maize and Blue. Don’t think that Laval will even take any more visits because the family wants to get it settled ASAP.

Two good additions for Michigan that should be official in the next week, both also seem to be from very good families and have their heads on straight. More on them as things progress.

Hello Rich Rodriguez… and Terrelle Pryor?

Terrelle PryorGreat day for Michigan fans, we finally got our coach. I think he’ll be a good one. From a basketball stand point the Terrelle Pryor situation becomes one to watch. Kid is an animal at the wing and a great slasher. Football would be his number one sport, not letting him play ball until January but still the kid is a top 25 hoops prospect. The hole on the roster at the wing is so huge that this could be a gift falling into Beilein’s lap. This will definetely be a developing story over the coming days and weeks.

Michigan vs. Central Michigan Pre-Game

Michigan is coming off their thrashing of Oakland in a game that was supposed to be a “battle for the second best team in the state” and has gotten some confidence and swagger back after scoring over 100 for the first time since 1998. Central also is hot on a three game winning streak winning at Detroit, at Robert Morris, and versus Cal State Fullerton.

Giordan Watson is the kid that Michigan has to look out for, the little point guard from Birmingham is averaging 16.4 points per game. Kelvin Grady will draw the matchup in what should be an interesting one.

The biggest thing that I will look for tomorrow is improvements on defense. The defense can’t keep giving up this many points per game or open shots per game. The team looks like they are thinking way too much on the defensive side of the ball leading to late rotations and open shots.

Recruiting

Quick recruiting update on the transfers. As Eric Lacy reported it looks like Laval Lucas-Perry will end up in the Maize and Blue. Perry is a great get and shores up our depth at the guard, especially with the likely departure of Jerret Smith. Laval Lucas-Perry video from YouTube.  Alex Legion looks much more likely to headed to Champagne (or possibly Notre Dame) in the near future. The burned bridges in Ann Arbor were too much to overcome. Most players, including many of the top players, on the team do not have a good relationship with Legion from their prior experience (most of the instate players AAU ball together at one time or another). The first break up between Alex Annette Legion didn’t go over to well either. If Legion goes to Illinois like is expected, we would get to see him twice a year which could be a fun one. Without Legion the wing position on next years roster continues to be weak, more on this with a couple targets later on.
