- Mitch Malone Sighting
AAU coaches, high school coaches and many others affiliated with top recruits have collected a paycheck for getting up in front of young kids at these summer camps. Texas Blue Chips director Mitch Malone spoke a couple times at Baylor this past summer. He was involved in Ekpe Udoh’s transfer from Michigan to Baylor and also coaches Quincy Acy – who committed to the Bears and is one of the top players in Texas. There are plenty of others who take advantage. It’s getting out of hand and isn’t illegal. Not yet
A couple quick morning links, I’ll have a lot more on media day as stuff starts coming out this afternoon. Media Day means the season is around the corner so that is exciting, word is that Beilein will put the media through an Izzo-style practice/scrimmage.

- College coaches looking at Southeastern’s Brandon Kearney
Kearney is very very good, I would guess that he is the number 1 target in 2011. A sophomore point guard that’s already 6-4 is scary. I think the Free Press got his first name though, Rivals and Scout have him listed as Brandan. - Six Stand Out for Franklin ($)
I think it’s time to let the Roger Franklin dream go. - IMG pays $86M for Michigan rights
Not sure exactly what this means… More money for Crisler? More emphasis on game-day atmosphere and marketing for all sports? More money for Bill Martin’s fleet of boats? I guess we will have to see. According to Wikipedia lots of big time schools (Arizona, Florida, Kansas, Kentucky, Nebraska, Texas and others) are involved with IMG. - Morris ready to help lead U-M back to prominence ($)

- Scout also updated their rankings and this one really leaves me scratching my head. No Morris in the top 100, Nix and Riley top 60 and Kirk top 80.
