Michigan looked happy to have a fresh start. Playing to keep its season alive for another day, the Wolverines blew out Illinois at the United Center on Thursday afternoon. The offense flowed as well as it had all season and the defense was engaged for 40 minutes as the Wolverines dismantled an Illinois team that needed to win to make the NCAA tournament.

Video: Caris LeVert, Derrick Walton talk injuries, future

Caris LeVert and Derrick Walton spoke about their injury rehab and what the future might hold for them. Derrick Walton warmed up again before Michigan’s win over Illinois, but wasn’t cleared to play as he was still experiencing pain in his foot. He’ll be a game time decision for Michigan’s game against Wisconsin.

LeVert discussed his injury time frame and what it might mean for his future. He spoke about the decision of entering the draft or returning to school and when he hopes to make a decision.

Caris LeVert mulling future as recovery continues

Michigan’s guard, who is projected as a first-round pick if he were declare for the NBA Draft, says he’ll wait until the April 27th deadline to decide whether he’ll return for his senior season.

With the Michigan basketball team’s NCAA tournament hopes clinging to the barest of threads, John Beilein decided against showing his team too much film from its first two games against Illinois. Instead, he reminded them of the 2011 Big East tournament, when ninth-seeded Connecticut strung together five wins in as many days to claim their conference title before winning six more in the NCAA tournament to win a National Championship.
