James Daniel III sets Michigan visit for May 29th

Howard graduate transfer James Daniel III has set his official visits and he’ll travel to Michigan on May 29th.

Daniel was the leading scorer in Division I two years ago at Howard, but missed the majority of last season with an ankle injury.

The scoring point guard discussed his Michigan interest earlier this month.

“Coach (John) Beilein thinks I bring a lot to the table,” Daniel said. “He wanted me to be a leader: making great decisions, making shots, being that piece that takes this team to the national championship. I think I could be the guy to do that. I just want to be an extension of him on the floor.”

Here’s footage of Daniel in action that we had previously shared in our Patreon section.

Notably, Daniel’s visit is scheduled after the NBA Draft withdrawal deadline of May 24th. Michigan has two players testing the waters, DJ Wilson and Moritz Wagner, and is also evaluating a host of other graduate transfer options.

Good that he’s waiting till after the NBA final deadline for withdrawals which is good for both sides.Hopefully Mo Bamba will have decided also by then.

I agree this is great timing. I cannot imagine Mr. Daniels will make a decision until all of his visits, which would put him to May 29. Things should be a lot clearer by then. If Bamba has not made his decision before June 1, I think you almost have to give him an ultimatum assuming only 1 ship: Mo if you want to come to UM, we need a decision by June 1, otherwise we are going to take a grad transfer who wants to be a Wolverine.

The worst thing that could happen would be if UM loses out of everybody or has to use the 1 ship on leftover 2017 recruit. Rather be safe than sorry.
