  • MGoTweeter

Hate the shot Michigan got. Another three over their best shot blocker

  • Chezaroo

Rebounding with this lineup a killer

  • MLaw

Wow 3 fouls fora half. That seems unreal

  • jemblue

Amazing that they only committed 3 fouls in 19:30.

  • MLaw

    Kenpom!!! one point Oregon win

  • bebopson

Superior athletes don’t need to commit fouls.

  • Cory

    What a run.

  • AAtoLA

it was a good run. our poor rebounding and lack of movement on offense in key moments did us in. Good run boys

  • Kevin Dale

    Good job seniors. Good season.

  • duffy

After that foul I thought Belein might call a timeout to draw up a play, but I guess not

    • Cory

I think he was expecting the foul.

    • Coltrane

      He got a great look

      • duffy

        Yeah, I know

  • bobohle

    Right man shooting.

  • MGoTweeter

Time to dissect the game will come later. Great effort by these guys. Hell of a run and they should be incredibly proud of what they did this year. It a great team to watch. We will miss you Derrick, zak, mark, Dak and Sean! Go Blue!

  • bebopson

No shame in losing to Oregon. They have high level athletes and shot-makers. They are also the more experienced team. Their quality and experience shined through.

  • MaizeBlue10

Hell of a season. Just sad it’s over

  • MLaw

Can’t be disappointed in that shot.

    • Indiana_Matt

agree. thought it was going down.

  • Indiana_Matt

Great run. The boys found their heart after the OSU lost. Great kids. Not our best game but I am proud of them and I am happy that Zak and Derrick finished their careers with heads held high.

  • Timothy David

    Hell of a season.

  • MLaw

Significantly outshot from 3 and only lost by 1. Not a bad game. I hope Moe and DJ are hungry to play more

  • Cory

It’s been a pleasure following games with you guys. Dylan, great work as always. Looking forward to next year! The future is bright!

    • AAtoLA

      Great run everyone…one to remember

    • Kevin Dale

Thanks for the hard work Dylan. Love having this site to add to the enjoyment of the games.

  • jemblue

It’s a game of inches. So many threes were in and out.

    • MLaw

      And the DJ dunk

      • AAtoLA

you mean the DJ bank shot that he should have dunked

        • MLaw

          Yes

      • ChipperFliet

To be fair, they also missed a dunk.

        • AAtoLA

The difference is, at least they tried to dunk it. DJ shot a bank shot from 2 feet.

  • Alex

Missed out on a couple of the little plays including Robinson’s going in and out. Oh well. Good game, great season.

  • AAtoLA

If DJ and Moe can get stronger and learn to finish at the rim, that would be huge for next season. Great job boys.

    • tom48160

Plenty of motivation for the next Camp Sanderson

      • AAtoLA

I hope so. Sounds like DJ is thinking draft based on recent interviews.

        • Indiana_Matt

I feel like, even if he opts for evaluation, he is going to be back. He has a lot of promise. Heck of a season for him. Who saw that coming?

          • AAtoLA

he said he saw himself as a one and done or two and done coming into college. Just sounded like he was leaning one way. I hope not because I think he has a lot of room to develop still and we could use him next year

    • bebopson

Let’s hope they both come back. If our freshmen pan out, we could be tough next year.

      • AAtoLA

They’ve shown neither are good defenders or solid on the boards. Going pro in this stacked draft? Good luck.

        • ChipperFliet

Exactly. They would get eatin’ alive in the NBA. They will be back. Andt hey will be motivated. Now, if only we can find a senior point guard.

          • AAtoLA

DWalt will leave a big hole for sure. X showed flashes but he needs a lot of time. MAAR isn’t a PG.

  • TOTO-Lover

Had ball in hands of our best player who was playing the best over the last half of year who took a shot he’s made all last 6 games. Just didn’t hit it

    • AAtoLA

Yup. Wouldn’t have drawn it up any different. I mean, he could have drove, but I’m not leaving our season in the hands of a ref’s whistle.

  • TOTO-Lover

Thank you boys for a great year

  • malcolm bolt

Man, so many ways to lose. A missed bunny, and weak blocking out/rebounding on a defensive FT. We let one get away tonight.

  • jblair52

I’d like JB to work hard in the offseason on out of bounds plays. I know they only happen once every few games but ya know, they might help occasionally. Otherwise, really good overall season.

    • ChipperFliet

I have said the same thing for years. Seldom do they get an easy bucket from an OB play under the hoop (made some quick 3 pointers this year), but they consistently give up bunnies or dunks when the other team in bounds under the basket. Even back in 2013 it was a weakness.

  • malcolm bolt

Proud of the squad. Great year overall, way to overcome adversity, and show fight. Was a great run.

  • jblair52

…also couldn’t help but notice how not one player crashed the glass hard on that final shot. Ummm…it’s the last shot of the game unless you can get a tip/quick put back. Might want to go after it

    • tom48160

A miss is likely to come off hard. Tough to corral that.

      • jblair52

I wouldn’t say “hard” – but still, it’s the last play of the season. Put some effort regardless of probabilities.

        • AAtoLA

Let’s be real, team looked flat this game. And “crashing the glass hard” is not a strong point of this team.

  • Under The Bridge

I’m disappointed, but it was quite a successful run. Big 10 tournament title! Beat Pitino! In early Feb I was worriedl about Michigan even making the tournament.

  • malcolm bolt

Earlier in the year Michigan would never have been able to stay with Oregon. The team improved tremendously. The outcome of this one stings, but in earlier February we would have been glad for this run.

    • Indiana_Matt

Oregon by 15 easy six or seven weeks ago, right?

      • malcolm bolt

        Easily.

  • MaizeBlue10

Going to hurt knowing a missed FT offensive rebound was the key. DJ has had that burn him all year

    • AAtoLA

DJ had a hell of a jump this season. We don’t get to the sweet 16 without him. But I went to 8 home games this year and sometimes he’s just staring into the stands. His focus just slips sometimes. I don’t know why. That missed rebound was big.

      • MaizeBlue10

Oh absolutely. Not a shot at him. I’ve just noticed it’s been him not boxing out on a lot of those FT boards. Happened too much this year

  • tom48160

I don’t think the players or coaches would admit it, but I wonder if they had their legs tonight.

    • MaizeBlue10

Heart was there, but yeah they made mistakes they don’t usually make

      • tom48160

Fatigue can show up in a number of different ways.

        • MaizeBlue10

So weird too. Moe and MAAR may have had their worst games, yet they had a chance tonight. Shame too, loved watching this group play during this run

    • AAtoLA

Walton’s last shot comes up short. That’s ALL legs…or lack of legs.

      • MattBuckets

It looked short the moment it left his hand as well

        • AAtoLA

DWalt also had that turnover because he lost the handle. That never happens to him. The team just looked tired.

          • MattBuckets

Yeah I was so frustrated at numerous moments and mistakes during the game that I can’t say I experienced for almost 2 months

    • bebopson

I don’t think it’s fatigue. At this point they’re all on the same rest more or less. Oregon went to their conference final.

      • AAtoLA

Oregon’s first two games in the NCAA tournament vs Michigan’s first two games. We expended a lot more energy to get to the sweet 16.

  • bobohle

Seven other really good teams will be going home between today and tomorrow and probably by more than one pt. Great run! Come on to Michigan Mo Bamba and Go Blue!

    • AAtoLA

We need a big that can DUNK the ball around the rim and not try to gently lay it up. MO BAMBA – you’d look great in Maize and Blue!

    • bebopson

How ridiculous would we be with Bamba starting at the 5? RIDICULOUS!

  • jemblue

The blocking foul on Walton that led to the outback on the FT . . . ugh that hurt. If that goes the other way we have a chance to deliver the dagger.

  • MaizeBlue10

Lost in the shuffle, can’t say I liked the call to get DJ the three down 1 with a minute left. Between Irvin or Walton, HAS to go through them.

  • malcolm bolt

Ugh, that weak block out was a killer on the FT.

This particular game has so many could have and should have moments (both ways to be fair). So many little things gave us the L.

    • malcolm bolt

Also, remember Duncan had 2 threes late in the 2nd half that were in and out; could’ve really upped the ante.

If DJ dunks the missed layup the whole team and the crowd would’ve become hype, and Oregon would’ve felt pressured.

      • AAtoLA

Totally agree. Only 2 points but DUNK the ball and give some energy to a team that was flat all game. Why the bank shot? He’s 7ft tall with a ridiculous vertical. smh

  • rlcBlue

I’m just sad that I don’t get to see Walton play for Michigan any more.

    • MaizeBlue10

Most debated player on this site, but Ill really miss Zak too. I always enjoyed him, through the good and bad.

      • Coltrane

I will miss him a ton. He had a hell of a game tonight which makes it a tougher loss to take.

      • Under The Bridge

Zak really came on strong late. I’d love to see him tear it up overseas.

  • jemblue

Did Wagner hurt his wrist on that foul with 4-5 minutes left? Was that why he was pulled?

    • AAtoLA

Wagner sat because the team was performing better overall without him this game. He’s just very hot or cold a this point in his development. Would love to see more consistency at a high level next year. Great season Mo Weezy!

      • jemblue

He was holding his wrist and grimacing. I’m curious to hear Beilein on this.

  • AAtoLA

It’s STILL great, to be, a Michigan Wolverine!

A lot too look forward to next year:
    1) great recruiting class including Michigan Mr. Basketball, JPoole, and maybe a Bamba?
    2) Charles Matthews!
    3) One of the best coaches in college sports!
    4) and so much more!

    GO BLUE!

    • malcolm bolt

Wagner and Wilson need to stay. Develop more and carry the torch to the next level.

This team had a great year considering guys like Wilson and Wagner became exposed to playing big minutes.

  • Stephen Chang

Proud of the run that this team went on this season. Shot fell short, but very proud of them. I expect Wagner and Wilson to return next year and hopefully be more consistent. Will miss both Irvin and Walton, especially Walton. Hopefully X gets better next year and improves his shot. Next year, Charles Matthews will be able to help this team along with Livers, Poole, Teske, Davis, etc. Go Blue!

  • ChipperFliet

Not really relevant, but watching Gonzaga and WV, and they are letting them play. No cheap whistles here.

  • Chace

Tough pill to swallow…. Proud of Derek and Zak they really played like seniors late to get us back in the game, made big shot after big shot late. Missed box out cost us bad.. Mo didn’t have a good game…MAAR struggled. DJ couldn’t get anything going inside the 3pt line. Mo and DJ should return next year and be more consistent… Seen derrick take over so many games later and hit shots when we’ve needed a big shot… just can’t seem to make that 1 big shot to seal the deal or win the game per say ex( OSU,Minn,) now Oregon. Not mad or anything dude really carried us the 2nd half of the season and was playing like one of he top PG’s in the nation…. just wish he could’ve hit that shot…. I was totally ok with him shooting that. Hope DJ and mo now return and develop more consistency and can get stronger. Overall great run proud of this team.
