Man o man are they selling Rutgers

  • MGoBlueAdam

    MAKE 2 FTS PLZ

  • Welp, buckle up for Zak Irvin FTs.

    • Chezaroo

      Senior

  • Joel_C

    Oh no

  • ChipperFliet

Nice to see our starters getting a lot of rest in preparation for Purdue. NOT!

  • tom48160

    Thank goodness Rutgers is Rutgers

  • MaizeBlue10

    Relieeeeeeeeeeeeved.

  • Joel_C

    Thank god

  • Get the win, get out of town.

  • Wayman Britt

need to shoot FT in practice this week

    • tom48160

at the end of practice, when guys are gassed

  • Chris De Sana

    Still having another drink

  • Cory

…………I still say they shouldn’t be in the Big 10.

  • MGoBlueAdam

We have to get back to making FTs. Two games in a row it has killed us. Luckily tonight it was just Rutgers

  • MGoTweeter

Phew. Got the win. Get home. Let’s beat Purdue!

    • Wayman Britt

will need to shoot over 55% from 3 pt to do that

    • ChipperFliet

      Section 218 Row 25

      • Chezaroo

        That’s a winner

  • FINAL: Michigan 68, Rutgers 64. Wasn’t pretty, but Michigan moves to 8-7 in Big Ten.

    • Chezaroo

      It was beautiful!

  • jemblue

I’d be curious to know our FT % in last-minute situations over the last 5 years. Maybe it’s confirmation bias but it seems like it’s always an adventure…

  • Chezaroo

    31 threes – 23 twos attempted tonite

    • jemblue

When we did go inside, good things happened. Don’t get why we get so three-happy at times.

      • bobohle

The coaches tell them to keep shooting?

    • Chris De Sana

There are times those with the best length never get two feet in the paint, don’t get it

      • Chezaroo

Almost like a contest to see who can launch one first sometimes

  • Lilweezy19

I was nervous all day and nervous all game. That was hopefully the last must win game

    • ChipperFliet

Well, they prob need two more wins to get in. Only 4 more games guaranteed.

      • Lilweezy19

The bubble is so weak we might be able to clinch on Sunday.

        • ChipperFliet

I think you meant Sat. Purdue right? Yes I would agree, if they beat Purdue, that might be all they need.

          • Lilweezy19

Damn the big ten is giving Michigan little rest the past couple games.

  • bobohle

That was toooo close. A win is a win. The committee does not look at point differential.

  • MaizeBlue10

    My two cents:
    1) whew! I was worried about this game after the Minny loss. Like others said, just get this win no matter how it happens

    2) with that said, I’m really disappointed this team continues to blow leads way too easy, especially double digit leads. It’s frustrating to see a team with experience continue to do that, especially after having it bite you before

    • iBleedBlue

usually it’s because our defense just isn’t that good, so we can only get kill shots with sustained excellent offense and hot shooting. Today’s turnovers were an ugly outlier

      • MaizeBlue10

But that’s the thing, their defense is competent when they play with good effort. When you get up 10, go for the kill and push it to 15-20, THEN coast until it’s down to 10 again. They just don’t get that killer instinct on D or overall when they build a lead.

    • bobohle

They just seem to lose focus and shouldn’t with Senior leaders.

      • MaizeBlue10

Seniors with lots of Juniors too. It’s my biggest disappointment this year. Not defense, or Zak, but losing late/later leads. Your experience shouldn’t allow that to happen multiple times.

  • Champswest

Not easy, not fun to watch, but I will take the win.

  • Champswest

Hopefully, this puts us back into the right frame of mind to upset Purdue.

  • Under The Bridge

Free throws win championships. We learned that a few years ago. Very fortunate, but it’s another road win!

    • bobohle

I agree . Two poor ft shooting games in a row. Maybe the road rims? I don’t know.

  • gobluemd16

You know the team practiced FT after the 9/18 outing in Minnesota.. I am legitimately concerned it may be a mental obstacle now. They clearly have the talent, but this is the third game in a row that down the stretch they shot 50% or worse. Derrick is even consistently missig them now! I have always felt unconfident with Zak at the line. Played like crap, imo, but a win is a win is a win.

    • bobohle

The way they rebounded I would say they spent more time of their one practice on rebounding.

    • ChipperFliet

From the looks of it, they probably spent most of the time preparing for Purdue.
      Let’s hope so anyhow.

  • Chace

Didn’t get a chance to watch the game but seems like FT’s almost killed us, glad to see us out rebound Rutgers though… especially DJ with a double double. Seems like we kinda got screwed during this last stretch with short rest hopefully fatigue isn’t a factor… Hope we can now beat Purdue and make some dang free throws
