Game 25: Michigan at Indiana Open Thread

Michigan beat Indiana by 30 points just four games back, but now will look to sweep the Hoosiers by winning at Assembly Hall. The Wolverines have won just once at The Hall in their last 17 tries, but a win could provide a major-boost to their NCAA Tournament hopes.

Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. on CBS, join our discussion before, during and after today’s game.

I’m confident we get the marquee home win against Wisconsin. They’re due for a road loss.

  • tom48160

Glad that got this one. I’m still thinking that they are going to split the home games vs. Purdue and Wisky.

Bring on the CheeseHeads. We are starting to peak at the right time.

Great win! Refreshing to see this team control a game on the road from start to finish. Also handled adversity very well with the scoring drought it had at the start of the second half. Crossing my fingers and hoping this team is surging to a 10-8 league finish.

    Fantastic game plan from coaches.

    • tom48160

Great job of denying Blackmon and Johnson the ball, especially in the first half

If Walton isn’t player of the week bring on an investigation.

  • Chace

Still really concerning involving Zak, he’s a senior and needs to play better no excuses you’ve had four years to figure it out and better play better

    • bobohle

      Maybe he’s playing with MONO.

      • Chace

He wouldn’t be playing if he had mono

        • bobohle

I’m trying to be positive with Irvin.

      • Steve2081

I thought I had mono for a whole month once. Turns out I was just really bored.

    • malcolm bolt

In a strange twist, and I hate to say this, but I think it could be a blessing in disguise he isn’t playing well. During his slide we have seen Walton develop a determined will, Simpson elevate his play, Robinson become more viable, along with improving contributions from Wilson and Wagner.

      • malcolm bolt

What I think would be great to re-energize Irvin would be to run him to the basket in backdoor cuts for easy layups, but he has a tendency to get his layups swatted at times, it’d be a great way for him to see the ball go through the basket.

      • Chace

Yes I agree with you it’s
forcing other players to step up which is a good sign for the future…. just hard to see a senior play this poorly

    • Indiana_Matt

I think your comment doesn’t account for how sometimes players get in a funk. Mentally, for some reason, they lose confidence. Having time to “figure it out” makes it seem like he doesn’t understand the offense or something. We’re seeing a good kid struggle in a slump. Let’s hope he breaks through it in the next couple games.

      • Chace

Yes but he’s a senior you don’t see to many other seniors going through a 5 game stretch like this…

        • No Walmart Fan Here.

We won can’t you just be happy? He will break out if his slump. Shooters go through them.

          • Chace

            I’m happy we won for
sure just worried about the future I know shooters go through slumps and all but he’s a senior it’s been 5 games and I understand if its 2-4 games but it’s just concerning glad to see other players step up though

        • Indiana_Matt

It’s a shame and is hard to figure out. But I don’t think it is lack of effort. And you don’t hear he’s late to practice or getting DUIs. I think he’s a good kid. I just think sometimes a perfect storm of circumstances gets a guy in his own head too much. Maybe it doesn’t happen to seniors as much, I’m not sure. I’ve seen it a bit from Nigel Hayes at Wisconsin this year.

        Very well said

  • bobohle

Let’s wear those black socks and shoes the rest of the year.

For the record, I brought the lucky shirt out of retirement the last two games. It hadn’t been doing well this season and had been shelved for about a month. I don’t know if it can give a full season’s performance anymore but it still can deliver in the clutch ;).
