  • Chezaroo

My gosh enter the ball to the post please

  • Chezaroo

    Typical

  • tom48160

    Of course…

  • iBleedBlue

    omg

  • MGoTweeter

    Ofcourse that goes in.

  • Mattski

Derek to the hoop for many, many FTs, please.

  • Kevin Dale

    Lets steal this

  • iBleedBlue

Need stops. Crazy how automatic Ward is within 5 feet

  • tom48160

Nairn bailed Michigan out, but I’m not complaining

  • Terrible offensive possession there by Michigan but Nairn bails out Walton by fouling on a 3PA. Wolverines to line for 3, trail by 8.

  • daddylipton

Last chance to make a run. Need all 3 here.

  • iBleedBlue

Zak has been brutal, but also: where has DJ been?

  • MGoTweeter

Big bail out foul there. Michigan is taking way too long to get into the offense right now and still not getting the ball to the mismatches.

    • iBleedBlue

Every action needs to be: find Walton–>PNR with Mo

  • Chezaroo

We are playing right into their defense. They’ve strangled the perimeter and we keep obliging

    • I think that side PNR with Moe and Derrick is working well.

      • Chezaroo

Put Moe on the block and enter him the dang ball.

    • MGoTweeter

Yea I havnt been happy with the plan of attack on offense. Dj against bridges in the post is such a huge mismatch as is Wagner against any of their bugs but the post touches have been few and far between.

      • iBleedBlue

DJ hasnt made anything of his opportunities, though

        • MGoTweeter

He’s only gotten a couple of chances in the post. He doesn’t have the advantage on the perimeter off the dribble. But he has made at least one good move in the post

  • tom48160

It looks like Michigan’s trying to run three different plays at times…

    • tom48160

Post up, PnR, and Iso. It’s hard for rebounders to anticipate when a shot’s going up.

  • iBleedBlue

How is that a tech on Mo??????

    • tom48160

Double fouls, rarely accurate. Usually the coward’s way out.

  • MGoTweeter

Wtf? So ward purposefully walks into Wagner and they get double techs?

  • How on earth was Wagner issued a technical foul for that exchange?

    • iBleedBlue

      speechless

    • JumpStop21

Does a tech count as a common foul in college?

  • daddylipton

    Wtf DJ?

  • Chezaroo

Who would’ve BELIEVED we would have had more TO?

    • iBleedBlue

Dont even want to know what Zak’s +/- is

      • ChiMan

        2 assists to 3 turnovers….and only 2 rebounds.

  • MGoTweeter

Lol how can you possibly complain about that Ellis/izzo

    • tom48160

      Dirty, dirty, dirty…

  • ChiMan

Zak needs to take a serious look in the mirror following this game. He showed absolutely zero grit, zero determination or emotion today. I can live with a bad shooting game, they happen to everyone but what I can live with is only 2 rebounds and 3 turnovers. Just a completely unacceptable performance for a senior.

    • Chezaroo

      MR Jekyll and Hyde

  • bebopson

Just not enough quickness/athleticism on this team.

    • tom48160

      Thought you left…

      • bebopson

? confusing me with MattD? ;)

    • JumpStop21

I think M its also not used to playing with the kind of urgency on EVERY possession that’s required to win tight games, against good teams.

  • Chezaroo

    Ballgame

  • iBleedBlue

If you told me we’d shoot 7/22 from 3, I wouldn’t have watched because of the foregone conclusion

  • Michigan’s 9 second half turnovers just too much to overcome right now. Bridges with a couple big baskets to ice away the game for MSU.

  • Alex

Couldn’t get the stops down the stretch. Have to pay these guys back in AA.

  • Chace

    We’re not a tournament team

  • Chace

Walton is the only bright spot right now Irvin has been terrible, super disappointing

  • Best news for Michigan: Walton is starting to figure it out. Really been much improved since the Illinois technical.

    • JumpStop21

Hopefully if he starts to figure things out, others on the team will follow his lead.

  • JumpStop21

Like that Derrick Walton, Jr. has played with more aggressiveness at times this game, Even if he’s made some mistakes, it feels like a step in the right direction for him, and for the team.

  • bobohle

You can tell Walton is the only in state player and who knows what the Sparty game means.

  • iBleedBlue

badddd foul on X. Had him trapped

  • iBleedBlue

Not sur ewhy MAAR didnt play over Zak for the last few minutes

    • Tuff Enough

I agree, and Beilein is a nut playing Zac too many minutes coming off the Flu. No freaking sense. One more year for coach and he will be gone period, Too soft for the big Ten and getting old to work the refs..

  • Chezaroo

This HAS to be the worst game of Zaks career, bar none.

    • bobohle

In a rivalry game as a Senior is unacceptable.

    • Fab 5 Legends

He’s had several “worst games” of his career this season…he’s been a huge disappointment as a senior, at least Walton showed up today

    • Coltrane

      He has the flu.

  • bebopson

    Chromecast died. Just as well.

  • Alex

    What an inferiority complex.

  • NbobBis

Michigan will never consistantly beat State until some things change. Namely, on offense. We have 5 players all stationary and whenever a pass is made the player takes about 5 seconds to ‘read’ the defense. So there are never ever 2 quick passes in a row. So the ball sticks. How hard is it to guard a team that isn’t moving or cutting. The other thing is that when we do drive, its a 5’10” guard going in there and it will never come back out again. So we need to recruit taller guards and play a different game than all of the ‘reading’. Swing the ball around with 3 or 4 passes in a row once in awhile. IMO.

  • gobluemd16

Zak: obviously terrible. Moe: didnt get enough touches. Derrick: fought his a** off. Feel bad for him that many of his teammates were no-shows. Is this team worse than last year’s?

  • MGoTweeter

Didn’t expect Michigan to win this game so beforehand I would have been indifferent about a couple possession loss. But after watching this crapfest, I’m pissed. Michigan has so much potential on this team but just couldn’t adjust at all during the game. Thought the team played hard but it was often misguided effort. Way too much reaching on defense, guards trying to drive into traffic, etc. credit to Walton for another strong scoring game but a lot of no shows today (Irvin, rahk, dj to an extent).

Really baffled by michigans inability to adjust and get the ball inside more. It was clear from about the midway point of the first half that the guards couldn’t break anyone down off the dribble today. Gotta be more willing to force it inside to Wagner and dj(if he would post up more, which he should).

This was an incredibly winnable game but Michigan played one of its worst handful of games this year.

    • gobluemd16

Totally agree. Needed more post touches and one of our worst performances. This, Iowa, and Wisco games were all there for the taking. Hard to see us getting to 10 conference wins

    • bobohle

We CAN get Sparty in AA in 10 days. GO BLUE! Maybe someone besides D WALT will realize what a rivalry game means.

    • Chezaroo

Inability to adjust to what the defense takes away is consistently perplexing.

Desperately need a guy who can beat you off the dribble and finish or dump. That is when this offense is tough.

    • NbobBis

Too much standing stationary and ‘reading the defense’. You can read your behind off but if noone else is cutting or even moving, well, then there’s no place to go is there.

  • NbobBis

The one constant in the 3 straight poor seasons is Zak Irvin

    • Fab 5 Legends

Agreed, he cannot be our go-to-guy…very inconsistent, 1 dimensional offensive player, very streaky…hate to nag on him, I’m sure he’s a nice guy but it’s hard to watch him sometimes play…

  • Fab 5 Legends

24pts, 9rbs, 5ast for Walton, great game – Irvin should be putting good numbers too unfortunately he’s senior year has been a disappointment as our go-to-guy…lose to state by 8…Irvin gotta give us 10pts…same sad story with him…0pts

    • Chezaroo

He may end up the year below 30% from deep. Remember when he was considered a sniper? Sheesh

      • Fab 5 Legends

Lol that was a long time ago…as a freshmen he was a “sniper” wait for the ball to come, spot up and shoot after Stauskas, Levert, Walton created…glad this is his final year, he has regressed

  • Mattski

They also had two more days’ rest and were on their court. We also had no one but DWalt show up, still kept it close. On the other hand, this game showed that we have no bench. Wilson and Wagner are not yet mature players. They shut us down defensively. The only other happy takeaway for me was Mo’s willingness to bark back at MSU’s players; this game was not about their bullying us.

Bottom line: we need to whip them in A2.

  • Coltrane

I’m disappointed but loved Walton’s effort, Wagner’s attitude and the rebounding numbers. Irvin has been sick and it showed.
