  • Mattski

Drink every time the 1-3-1 results in a layup.

  • MGoTweeter

Also can’t pass the ball to Walton late in the shot clock unless he has a wide open three.

  • Was that not a kick ball though?

    • Chezaroo

      Sure thought so

  • Wayman Britt

    DW schooled again

  • Cowan step back three, not sure what you want to do there.

    • A2MIKE

      Keep his hands up

    • tom48160

Maybe they want Walton to clap in his face, like they do at the CCRB…

  • A2MIKE

    Walton is so bad

  • Wayman Britt

Why does DW always keep his hands down

  • Chezaroo

Turned the tables on us from 3 today so far

  • jemblue

Come on. Are they going to hit everything?

  • bobohle

We are terrible at guarding the three today.

  • malcolm bolt

I notice Walton has been deferring to Wagner more.

    • Wayman Britt

      as he should

      • malcolm bolt

Exactly Wayman, it’s just that he has now finally come to that realization.

  • jemblue

All right. Gotta get some stops.

  • MGoTweeter

Michigan is doing just enough to stay in the game but not nearly enough to take the lead. Last chance coming up.

  • Maryland has made 10 of its last 16 shots, but Michigan down 4 with 3:43 to play. Terps are 9-of-14 from three. Gotta figure out how to get a stop… I’m not sure they have it in em.

  • Alex

Have got to protect the basket now. Too many allowed baskets if we want to win. Let’s finish this game strong.

  • MGoTweeter

Wagner finally drives left and proceeds to throw a no look pass to Maryland. Credit to the Maryland guys for playing the scouting report.

  • Wayman Britt

    Killer

  • Chezaroo

    Are you kidding me?

  • jemblue

    Come on man.

  • Wayman Britt

    play some D

  • tom48160

Can’t believe he got that call…

  • jemblue

    A stop!

  • Chezaroo

    Ouch

  • jemblue

    This game is insane.

  • tom48160

Mo didn’t do the Heuter flop…

  • Mattski

The endgame here bears out what Dylan’s saying–the offense has not been the problem.

    • jemblue

Though in fairness, this is a different game if MD shoots a normal percentage from 3.

      • ballhog

You can’t expect MD to shoot their normal percentage when the 3’s they are taking are wide open.

  • Alex

Game. Decent attempt at a comeback. Need to play hard all game.

  • A2MIKE

This team will be better off the day Walton runs out of eligibility

  • Chezaroo

Thank goodness we won that Penn State game. I can only imagine being 0-3 in the league with two home court losses.

  • mgobluehoops23

Fire Beilein be ready for the thread to come from me on the forum. Enough is enough already

    • Indiana_Matt

      what?

      • mgobluehoops23

You think this is acceptable with the experience on this roster? The team is a joke. We will not win another game by double digits this year. Every game is a bear fight for this team.

        • Indiana_Matt

I think we are playing poorly. I also think that we will have a hard time hiring a great coach if we fire someone as highly respected in the industry as JB. Coaches are a fraternity. What hot up-and-comer or established winner is going to leave their situation for a football school who fires the guy that took them to the Final Four and won 2 conference titles in the last 5 years with a squeaky clean program. Do we sound like a great situation to great coach if we fire JB at the end of the season?

  • Chris De Sana

OK Kevin Huerter or Ibi Watson?

  • gobluemd16

Defense just completely pathetic. I believe MD has scored 12 of last 13 possess. Only one was a TO. Defensive numbers after this game will be WORSE than last season. Offense was great down the stretch and in the 2nd half for the most part, besides a few FT, but MD’s extremely average offense shot 52% from the field and 67% from three. Not winning no matter what, when that happens.

    • A2MIKE

The defense by MAAR and DW leaves a lot to be desired. Would have like to have seen X play more. When Walton gives you nothing offensively, he might as well not play.

      • Andy

Irvin is easily one of the worst help defenders/off ball defenders Michigan has had in awhile.

    • Indiana_Matt

our guys can score. frustrating that they can’t get stops.

  • bobohle

Defense killed us. It seems every time they take a step forward they take two steps back.

    • Chezaroo

You can’t make sandpaper out of Charmin. They are who they are on the D end.

      • bobohle

I agree there is more than bad luck when one opponent after another are shooting there best all season against us.

    • Indiana_Matt

didn’t watch but listened to the game online. that seemed to be the thing. just couldn’t get stops. we can score the ball. but frustrating that they can’t seem to figure out how to lock down on people. still got time. but not a lot of time.

  • malcolm bolt

Was a cute comeback, but unfortunately we couldn’t grab a lead and threaten further. Disappointing to drop a hime game. Michigan has a lot to figure out. Hopefully it can work out to our liking by season’s end

  • jeff brow

Derrick Walton has had a miserable year

    • Indiana_Matt

sad for him. we still can bounce back. hope they don’t give up the fight.

  • gobluemd16

Team ceiling: make the tourney. Sad but we are what we are at this point — half way thru the season we will be around 100-100 in Def efficiency.

  • jeff brow

Belein is responsible for the soft d, he recruits soft players and teaches finesse over toughness

  • David Remmler

We need better D, better rebounding and a point guard. Looking NIT bound or maybe the bubble if we’re lucky.

  • mgobluehoops23

Did not lead once that game. Maryland is not good this year. Team is a joke. Defense is a joke.

  • gobluemd16

This team showed legitimate improvement in the nonconf until about the Va Tech game. They were great in NY. Since then, it has been arguably worse than last yr. A lot is soft players. Another portion is having a shallow rotation with guys playing 35+ min game after game.

    • jeff brow

Why is Walton playing the entire game despite playing terribly. I think x needs more of waltons minutes-perhaps that would wake Walton up

  • Chezaroo

We were 28-56 from the floor- Maryland 28-54. They had 11 turns we had 9. Three point shooting was the decider.

    • ballhog

“Three poitn shooting was the decider.” I disagree with this. Poor defensive rotations on Michigan’s part was the decider.

      • Chezaroo

Did Maryland play any better D? We shot 50%.

    • tom48160

I thought that Maryland penetrating at will was the difference. Michigan’s guards not quick enough to wall off the driver. D rotates to help, leaving their assignments unchecked and near the basket, ready to finish.

  • Andy

It appears Michigan is stocked with a bunch of good guys off the bench to spell alpha dog starters, but shouldn’t play starter minutes…except Mo and DJ.

  • Kevin Dale

    Very painful to watch.

  • gobluemd16

Updated KenPom: 18 in O efficiency and 108 D efficiency. Down from 95th last season. And this is supposed to be the easy part of our conference season — we haven’t played Wisco, Indiana, or Purdue yet.
