Michigan offers in-state point guard David DeJulius

Dylan Burkhardt

Michigan head coach John Beilein handed out a scholarship offer to class of 2018 point guard David DeJulius this evening.

Beilein watched DeJulius score 46 points, grab 7 rebounds and hand out 5 assists tonight before extending the offer. DeJulius was 14-of-17 from the floor and knocked down nine triples.

Entering Saturday night’s game, DeJulius was averaging 29 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists per game in early season play. The 6-foot, 188 pound point guard is ranked 188th nationally by 247Sports Composite and has taken multiple visits to Michigan this fall.

Michigan has also offered Cormac Ryan, Brandon Johns, Robby Carmody and Jerome Hunter in the 2018 class.

I don’t know anything about this kid and have never seen him play, but I do worry about PG’s who are six feet or shorter. In the Big Ten it’s extremely hard to get a shot off in the lane without some height. Of course their are exceptions, but typically not many.

    • He was measured at 5-11 without shoes this summer and 6-3 wingspan. That makes him a legit 6-foot, with room to grow possibly. He’s also very strong.

I wonder what high school he plays for.

I’d be curious what league he plays in or what part of the state it is in and what the competition is like. HS stats without context are pretty useless. Would also be nice to know if he has other offers and if he has attended Michigan’s camp before.

      • Had some other stuff going on last night and had to throw this up in a hurry. He plays at East English Village Prep in Detroit. They are Class A and have played some pretty good teams this season.

He has camped at U-M in the past and played with The Family this summer on the Nike EYBL circuit at the 16U level.

Here’s some footage from the summer that I put together.
