Michigan hosts Armstrong State tonight in its only exhibition game of the 2016-17 season. With the regular season tip-off just a week away, this will be the first chance for fans to see the Wolverines in action against live competition.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Crisler Center and if you aren’t planning to attend, you’ll have to purchase BTN Plus to watch the game online. The game will also be re-aired on Sunday at 6 p.m. on the Big Ten Network.

In late breaking news, Michigan announced that Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman would be sitting out with an ankle injury.

Join in the open thread before, during and after the game to discuss the action.

    Go Blue!

Bought my subscription, ready to roll. Shame to hear MAAR’s out.

  • Walton, Lonergan, Irvin, Robinson and Wagner starting tonight

  • bobohle

Anyone find the stream address yet like they did for last years
    btn plus games?

    • Wayman Britt

Yes, would appreciate if one of you technical posters could give us a link!!

  • Cory

Ready to go for another year! I hope Lonergan filling in for MAAR is a shout out to the forum here! :)

  • polisci

BTNPlus is up to its usual high standards.

    • Timothy David

      Are you getting a stream?

      • polisci

        Just came up

  • Orion Sang

Lonergan with impressive plays on both ends of the court to start things off

  • Michigan up 8-2 at the under 16. Bit sloppy out of the gate, but Irvin with a pair of back-to-back buckets.

DJ first sub off the bench for Duncan (after a foul) and he had a nice box out and board.

  • geoffclarke

    LOL @ Wilson’s shorts!

  • Cory

Forced 4 turnovers already. DJ had a nice rebound.

  • Irvin’s jumper looked great on a mid range curl, but that three was ugly.

  • geoffclarke

    Ibi first frosh off bench

  • Ibi Watson is the first freshman off the bench for Michigan. Nice transition layup, then called for a push off.

  • X, Donnal and Irvin coming back in at the TO.

  • Cory

Wagner – 8 minutes and no fouls!

  • geoffclarke

I think Irvin should only shoot midrange jumpers. Just got blocked by rim on breakaway.

    • Cory

      5 point swing.

  • Teske in for Donnal as the third big.

  • Duncan’s second foul. There’s had a quiet half.

  • Orion Sang

Wouldn’t be surprised if Davis checks in later — redshirt isn’t lost if he plays in exhibition game, IIRC

  • Still no made three-pointer for Michigan…

    • geoffclarke

      So 1-dimensional

      • dufflbag

        :-)

  • geoffclarke

Teske with a nice 12 ft baseline jumper then moved feet well on D

  • We are 3 minutes away from Michigan scoring more points off of post-ups than three-point attempts in a half.

  • And DJ Wilson hits Michigan’s first three-pointer of the game with 1:48 to play in the first.

    • duffy

Are the turnovers a result of New & improved defense or Armstrong St being bad ?

      • Probably a bit of both — Michigan was more aggressive scraping down and reaching in, but Armstrong State certainly doing its part as well.

        • duffy

I’m interested to see if they can at least be decent on defense this year, I see Robinson has 3 fouls already so that’s at least him showing effort,I suppose, guess we’ll get a better idea when the competition improves.

  • bobohle

Teske looked pretty good in his limited time. You can tell that a lot of time was spent on defense by fg% / ft% in the first half more so than how well the defense played.

    • bobohle

Although when I saw the 56% fg stat, It did not look like it was that good watching it.

  • MGoTweeter

Alright who is the wise guy that left wilson’s uniform in the dryer all night?

  • Jon Pence
  • Michigan calls timeout as Armstrong State opens the half with a 13-7 run. Really ugly play out of the gate here in the second.. Turnovers, fouls, missed box outs.

    • geoffclarke

Responds with 3’s and 11-0 run

  • Nice response by U-M after the sloppy start. Held Arm St. scoreless for 3:48 to spark an 11-0 run.

  • geoffclarke

Impressed with Ibi so far. Game seems to come naturally to him. Would like to see at least a couple nice plays from Simpson before the end.

  • bobohle

Impressed with the defense of Watson and Simpson

  • geoffclarke

DIII getting all his misses for the year out of the way now

    • bobohle

Same for Robinson an o for from three.

  • MGoTweeter

So the rebounding is a bit concerning to say the least

  • bobohle

Missed shots inside 2ft and not good rebounding are still bad habits from last year.

  • bobohle

I would be very surprised if Teske doesn’t pass up Donnal on the depth chart sooner than later.

    • GTFOmycourt

Night and day difference between Donnal and Wagner. Teske is going to be good.

  • Timothy David

Like the looks of DJ and Wagner playing the 4 and 5. Simpson looks good too.

  • GTFOmycourt

Xavier is a very good defender on the perimeter. I don’t understand why JB did not play x more…
