According to a report by MLive’s Brendan Quinn, Michigan will play at Akron in a preseason scrimmage on October 28th.

The NCAA allows these ‘secret scrimmages’ in lieu of a second exhibition game as long as they are played in private and the coaching staff does not discuss them publicly.

Akron went 26-9 last season, losing an overtime game at Ohio State in the NIT.

The Zips return 6-foot-10, 290 pound big man Isaiah Johnson, who averaged 13.6 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. But Akron is a perimeter-oriented team overall, attempting 50.9% of their shot attempts from three-point range last season — the second most in Division I.

Michigan will play a public exhibition game on November 4th against Armstrong State before opening the season against Howard on November 11th.
