Report: Michigan to host Texas in 2016-17

Dylan Burkhardt

Michigan will host Texas this season in the first game of a home-and-home series with the Longhorns.

The Wolverines will play a return game in Austin in the 2017-18 season. The news was first reported by CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein.

Michigan faced Texas last season in the Bahamas as part of the Battle 4 Atlantis, a game the Wolverines won 78-72.

Michigan will also participate in the 2K Sports Classic, with an opening game against Marquette, and will play at UCLA, Cincinnati and host Virginia Tech during the non-conference slate. The Wolverines will also host Howard (Nov. 11th) and IUPUI (Nov. 13th) as non-bracketed games as part of the 2K Sports Classic.

very nice non-conference schedule…will definitely be tested…hoping to make it to the 2K Classic….wonder if I buy championship game tickets if I get both games or the title game which I’m hoping Michigan is there after they take care of Marquette

Our nonconference RPI looks to be shaping up pretty good on paper so far.

This is great news. One more strong non-con game, hopefully in the form of a home-and-home series, was exactly what I’d hoped to see. Excellent scheduling job by the program for the upcoming season.
