Video: John Beilein talks transfers, recruiting and offseason goals

Zach Shaw

Just under three weeks since the Michigan basketball team’s season ended in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, Michigan coach John Beilein met with reporters Wednesday, his first press conference since the night of the loss.

Beilein discussed the Wolverines’ offseason approach, which includes new recruits, outgoing transfers of Aubrey Dawkins, Ricky Doyle and Spike Albrecht and a returning starting five from this past season. The coach also broke down his ever-changing approach to recruiting, transfers, scheduling and injuries, while admitting that multiple Michigan assistant coaches have interviewed for other jobs.

Watch the videos to see Beilein’s full thoughts following the season.

Really wish we could bring in another impact freshman for next season. Maybe get back in on recruiting Eron Gordon or start aggressively recruiting Kostas Antetokounmpo. They are essentially in Michigan’s backyard.

Zach, thanks for posting this. I hope every UM BB fan listens to this. Earlier blurbs that came out were missleading in some regards.
I loved his comment about people thinking the freshmen bigs aren’t athletic. “Just watch them.”
Also, I loved the comment about Wilson working his butt off at the four. That could be a huge boost for this team.
