Big Ten Tournament: Michigan vs. Indiana Open Thread

Dylan Burkhardt
on

The Wolverines and Hoosiers will face off at Bankers Life Fieldhouse for a mid-day showdown that could determine Michigan’s postseason fate.

Tip-off is scheduled for noon (eastern) with Dan Dakich and Mike Tirico on the call for ESPN.

Indiana dominated the only game that these teams played this season and has been playing some of the best basketball in the conference down the stretch. The Wolverines have scraped and clawed their way to this point, but have never really been able to take the next step since their Feb. 2nd home defeat to the Hoosiers.

I don’t exactly hate our chances tomorrow either…….

Phenomenal job fellas!! I have been very critical myself, because I know the Promised Land this program is capable of getting to. I am proud of the effort, and let’s keep it going! That is the effort of Leaders and Best!

  • Dave Pratt

    We are in!! F Lunardi

    • A2MIKE

      hate that guy

  • JimC

    KAM CHATMAN FOR PRESIDENT!!

  • Cory

Give me Xavier as a spark off the bench and Mo/Kam each a year older and I’m starting to really like this squad for next year.

  • Dave Pratt

    God I love March!!!!!

  • Tony DeMaria

I love you all…sorry I sometimes get negative, its all out of (misguided) love

    • ChiMan

All good man, now let’s have subs and get crazy!

  • Cory

I still can’t believe how open they left Robinson to tie the game. Huge error.

  • scipiodreams80

I still think we’re too passive lots of the time and I wish we played angrier sometimes, but credit given – these kids pretty much never give up.

  • Cory

How many of you were thinking about a potential semi final matchup with Illinois when this tournament started?!

  • AAtoLA

Killa Kam! We keep at it through the season young man! Clutch city!! Great feed from Walton! Let’s go!

  • scipiodreams80

Jay Bilas with the dumbest idea ever. Yes, let’s make it impossible to play in during tournament week. So, you get screwed with an unbalanced season one year and you don’t get a chance to play yourself in short of winning your tournament. Yeah, that’s dumb.

    • Rich74

Watching his ranting too. There is little about what he espouses that I agree with.

    • robpollard

I don’t follow – what did he say? What is he complaining about?

      • Rich74

He’s saying that it isn’t equal (but fair) that a power 5 conference team can play their way (in the conference tournament) into the big dance but a Monmouth can’t.

        • Steven Feller

What he doesn’t realize is that they can – Your conference isn’t great so win it. You didn’t and now you wait. I don’t see 3 sub 200 losses on Michigan’s resume. They talk about now 4-11 against top 100 – How about we mention the 3 truly awful losses Monmouth has. Not 1, not 2…but 3.

          • Rich74

            Preaching to the choir.

  • TimgColo

Wow, what a finish. So happy for Kam, love Beilein’s quote, that kind of play can change a career, change a life!!!!

  • ChipperFliet

My sincere apologize to JB, saying he was going to run out the last 4 mins with his starters.
Actually MAAR did foul, but still,he pick the right man to come in. And props for yanking Donnal earlier!!

  • GTFOmycourt

Did someone from Michigan bang Bilas’s girlfriend? Dude hates us. I am ok with that.

    • Mattski

      Dukie. Weak Dukie.

      • JimC

He should eat a dukie pie.

    • A2MIKE

still mad that we fired his friend amaker, ten years after the fact

    • AAtoLA

      What did Bilas say?

      • Steve2081

He’s very quick to jump in anytime someone praises us and remind people how badly we got beat in some of our losses. For me it’s less about what he says and more about how aggressive he is.

        • AAtoLA

Haha. Who cares. He’s always been a Michigan hater. Just another bald dude on tv. Go blue! Way to get it killa Kam!

          • Steve2081

You’re right. it’s my fault for not changing the channel when the went back to the studio like I usually do with ESPN.

        • Tony DeMaria

When he started talking about Michigan’s losses, at first I thought he was going to mention that none of them are worse than OSU, but no he took the negative route. I’m not going to defend the number of double digit losses other than to say that several of them were close games where the opponent pulled away late, but you have to also remember almost all of those losses were to top 30 RPI teams.

    • scipiodreams80

Um, yes, basically. We fired Amaker for being dreadful.

  • A2MIKE

just called the wife, coming home early, get some subs, it’s gonna be crazy

  • A2MIKE

what time is the game tomorrow?

    • Joel_C

      1pm

  • robpollard

BTW, when you watch the replay, check out Beilein’s celebration: he just stands there, stunned, with a smile on his face, puts his hands on his hips, says “What?!” and then turns to his right to shake Crean’s hand.

I’m sure having your whole season in the hands of a contested 3 by a player who, even though he’s improved a bit over the last 10 games, is probably the 8th or 9th best player on your team — and have it go in — makes you question what you are truly in control of as a coach.

    • MAZS

Pretty much Beilein’s reaction on Trey’s shot as well

  • Chillax

Guys….let’s win this tournament. F*** da Free World

  • ChiMan

lol I just watched the reply of the winning shot about 172 times in a row! What a way to the start the weekend! It’s GREAT to be a MICHIGAN WOLVERINE!!!

    • Rich74

      Amen!

  • scipiodreams80

Watching the end again – you know what’s a huge play? The fact that MAAR’s shot scraped the rim. Loose ball end up tied up between Wagner and Ferrell, possession arrow ours. Duncan gets an and one on the subsequent possession.

As big a play as there was.

  • Jdubb

Big win! Guys played good. I also ask today for no negative stuff. Mattski fired Walton, he played good today with controlling the game. I’m not going to bash no one because I’m happy for the win. # GOBLUE
