With a matchup against the worst Big Ten team in recent memory coming on Wednesday night, the Michigan basketball team (5-2 Big Ten, 15-5 overall) is trying its best to avoid a colossal letdown.

Tuesday evening, Michigan coach John Beilein spoke about not taking the Scarlet Knights¬†(0-8, 6-13) lightly, senior guard Caris LeVert’s eventual return and the rest of the team’s development. Junior forward Zak Irvin, sophomore guard Aubrey Dawkins and junior guard Derrick Walton Jr. discussed Irvin’s development, filling in for LeVert and rebounding intensity.

I’ll save you the video…Caris is not playing

      “We have a timeline.” Woo-hoo!

People seem to really want to play up this idea that we’re a better team without Caris, and I couldn’t disagree more. Sure, there could be some growing pains for a minute or two, but at the end of the day the team adds another scorer, ball handler, and rebounder who is going to occupy the opposing teams best defender. That means more open shots for rest of the guys on the floor… especially Duncan. I, for one, can’t wait for him to heal up and see what this team can really do.

I’m thinking Caris may spot play against PSU. Then play more against IU and Sparty. IMO!

Practice in coming days after Rutgers game, spot mins against IU. Slowly more playing time after that. Just my guess! Will be 5 weeks (!) since the injury if that timeline plays out.
