Michigan and Maryland are set for a primetime 9 p.m. tip-off at the Crisler Center tonight. Mike Tirico and Dick Vitale will handle the call for ESPN and you can join our open thread below.

Caris LeVert has not been spotted in warmups for the Wolverines and he’s expected to miss his third consecutive game

  • MGoTweeter

Both teams giving away chances at this game but Michigan coming up with a few more plays so far.

  • Old man

    Walton!

  • jakelam2116

    Lucky miss

  • jakelam2116

    Really poor shot by Walton

  • Chris De Sana

Walton pulling up rather than getting too deep paying off.

  • Ugh. Brutal turnaround there… Couple Michigan shots looked close to finishing MD and Sulaimon answers.

    • mpbear14

Still our game to lose. We are playing confident which I like in a final minute

  • Chezaroo

You gotta get a better shot Derek

  • jemblue

Come on, do not give up a three!

  • MGoTweeter

Grr Derrick feeling it so you let him take that but man thought Michigan should have forced something at the rim there. Need a good shot here

  • MGoTweeter

Ugh. Shades of Indiana for the title from a few years back. Can’t miss those free throws

  • Old man

    Free throws

  • Chris De Sana

Grrrrrr Zak has missed 2 front ends

  • Ugh. Can’t miss those front ends Zak.

  • jakelam2116

    Irvin at the free-throw line…

  • jakelam2116

Man, Stone is just $$$ at the line

    • Chezaroo

      Lotto pick

  • jemblue

Clutch FT shooting always seems to haunt us.

  • MGoTweeter

Heads up by Derrick Walton. Good timeout

    • jemblue

      Huge.

  • Chillax

    oh god

  • jakelam2116

    Top 3 FT shooters?

  • MGoTweeter

    Make. Your. Free. Throws.

  • Old man

    hang on

  • Cory

    Baseline inbounds. Our old nemesis……

  • INblue

Very sad that Irvin can’t step up with late game FTs!

  • Chris De Sana

He has been in same spot by 4 and missed both now it is his time to seal it

  • Chezaroo

    V-I-C-T-O-R-Y

  • jakelam2116

Shocked that didn’t go down. What in the world was Donnal doing backing up?

  • INblue

Nice to see no court storming! Big W!

  • jemblue

That was scary. But a HUGE WIN!

  • mpbear14

    What a win!!!! Just huge!

  • Cory

By the way, that was the 2016/2017 Wolverines (minus a better backup PG) doing that to #3 Maryland tonight!

  • Tuff Enough

Man what a win Know they may make the March Madness Yes..

  • mpbear14

People may not like this take, but this team plays better without Levert.

    • Tuff Enough

No way, they were starting to Jell right before his ankle got hurt.

      • mpbear14

Maybe… They were also playing awful teams.

It just seems like everyone is more involved on both ends with Levert out.

I could be wrong, but I like what I see with Levert out vs what we were seeing with him in.

        • MGoTweeter

There is definitely some deferment by players when levert is out there and a tendency by levert to go hero ball but they will be better in he long run with him out there no question.

        • NorhternBlue

I understand what you’re saying about the other guys, but no one can argue that Caris is their best scoring option and one of their best defenders, rebounders and passers as well. So hard to argue they are better overall without him, however, I do get that the rest of the guys from perimeter positions may play better without Levert, but Levert is that good and the teams potential is at its highest w Caris playing.

Looks like this team is a tournament team regardless, but a lot of the current success is because they are finding the right mix especially with Donnal, MAAR and Irvin showing the improvement they have. I think this would have happenned if Caris was there, obviously MAAR to a lesser extent w Caris taking up his opportunity.

    • MAZS

      that’s just silly

  • three_goggles

Great win, this team will go as far as Walton&Irvin will take them. Have been waiting for better play/more consistency from them (even with Levert). Tonight they took us to a win over the #3 team in the country. Now get Caris back healthy and let’s see what happens!!

    • Tuff Enough

I agree 100% with that statement..

  • jblair52

Glad Walton finally decided to do something on offense. If that kid went 100% he’d be unstoppable. Donnal had a solid showing. Robinson the usual incredible 3 point shooting. Irvin gave us good offensive numbers.

I think Dawkins needs to play the energy sub role. Get in there and use that athleticism for 10-15 minutes. He just stands around and looks passive.

  • MGoTweeter

    Big time win.

  • Stephen Chang

I have to admit, I was very nervous about this game, but I was confident that they would bounce back from the loss to Purdue and they delivered! Hopefully Levert is ready to go against Iowa.

  • Indiana_Matt

Great job all around! This was the one I thought we could get of this brutal 3 game stretch. If Levert is back we could have a shot at Iowa. Always tough to get a win there.
