Report: Michigan offers 2017 forward Kyle Young

Dylan Burkhardt

Michigan extended a scholarship offer to 6-foot-7 forward Kyle Young this afternoon, according to a report by Ohio basketball insider Corey Albertson.

Young is a 6-foot-7 forward from Jackson High School in Massillon, OH with offers from Wisconsin, Clemson, Purdue, Illinois, Xavier, Butler, Davidson, Akron, Kent State, Toledo, Miami (OH), Bowling Green, High Point, and others. He’s ranked 112th nationally in the class of 2017 according to 247Sports Composite rankings.

“I’m not going to have any set time (to decide),” Young told in October. “If I feel right about a school … I’ll make a decision. As of now I’m just kind of feeling everything out.”

Young averaged 18 points and 8 rebounds per game as a sophomore, shooting 56% overall and 39% from three-point range.

The Wolverines have one commitment in the class of 2017, from Milwaukee guard Jordan Poole, and one additional outstanding offer to top-50 forward prospect Jaren Jackson.

Here are some recent highlights of Young in action against regional rivals Canton McKinley.

And a more complete highlight film from Young’s sophomore season.

  • Some additional highlights from this summer.

  • Seems like a pretty great fit for a stretch four in this offense, especially if he can grow to 6-8 or so. Strong and athletic enough to rebound, looks like a good finisher and he can step out and hit the three.

    • Wayman Britt

I agree he does look pretty strong. If he is a little nasty and enjoys some contact, then UM should put on the blitz to get him.

  • JJ3ball

Heckuva class if this kid is #112.
Athletic, strong, can shoot, finish, and shows an advanced turnaround jumper.
He will be a tough get. Will have his choice of schools. This would not fall under the Coach Beilein finding a diamond in the rough category.
What was with the announcer and the “Suhweet banana”?

    • Tuff Enough

I agree its got to be loaded. Its all about the system, the kid either loves it or hates it and if I was him I would jump on the offer before its gone because kids see Beilein bringing in some Great talent that makes you Great when you are all on the floor.

  • Champswest

An offer just in time for Christmas. Nice gift.

  • Has some decent hops to go along with a pretty quick release. He’s gonna get his shots no matter what you do.

  • Ben

What about Logan Hill on the same highlight film…I liked his tenacity and motor and had two great swats and ups…just curious…
