Video: John Beilein previews Battle 4 Atlantis, UConn

Zach Shaw

John Beilein previewed Michigan’s upcoming matchup with the UConn Huskies and the Wolverines’ trip to the Bahamas this week. Watch the head coach in the embedded media player above discuss what he’s looking for on the trip.

With respect, he’s in denial or being disingenuous when he says that UConn “isn’t bigger” than Michigan. We will be lucky if we have half an answer for Brimah inside.

Would clarify by noting that M is not a small team, per se, but in terms of a big, physical, and athletic presence inside, that is clearly what was lacking against Xavier. Hammons, Stone, Bryant et al will all be extremely difficult to handle.

Add Alex Olah, Swanigan to that list. Anyone else kind of wishing we had Max right about now?

        • nswan

watched part of the IU vs Wake game last night and definitely wishing we hadnt let Max go (those are words I never thought I would type)… He looked active, aware, crisp and he hustled. Those are things we are desperately looking for in our 5s this year

I’ve said it before. John Beilein would be a great poker player. He will not tip his hand if he doesn’t want the media to know something, so I wouldn’t say he was in denial. He protects his players.

Welp, I guess I’ll have to tune in Wednesday and find out who the new starters are.
I’ll also tune in to see who’s in and who’s out of the rotation.
Irvin started against Xavier, so I suspect only one new starter this game, with prime suspect being Richard Doyle.

  • John miller

Dylan, who would you take out of the rotation? Who starts?

    • gobluemd16

Have to add Spike to that list. No way he isn’t in the rotation.

Seeing how almost every time he was out there they attacked him and he was exposed, I don’t think beilein can afford to play him without it hurting the team. I love spike but he can’t move well at all. Hopefully he is still recovering but it doesn’t look good so far. I know last year he couldn’t really defend either but this year it’s one step and the opposition is past him, can’t keep having that since perimeter defense is a big problem.
