Anyone know the deal with that DJ alley oop?

If Irvin returns as healthy/aggressive as he was at the end of the year, it will make a huge difference. Missing his presence more than many would have thought

I have watched a dozen high-major vs D2 exhibitions so far and this is the first non-blow-out I’ve watched. (In relative terms.) Still, I’m encouraged by Robinson’s stroke, Wagner’s hustle, and LeVert just being LeVert. BUT this team is going to struggle against Xavier, NC State, etc. Northwestern destroyed a good D2 yesterday.

I agree we need a lot of work before Xavier. Everyone is hitting on Donnal for looking the same . I didn’t thinkdoyle looked good at all. He still can’t jump and lost several rebounds he didn’t secure. Sparty really hammered Northern. I hope we can do the same.

      • Corperryale

Yeah, Northern was close at the half, but MSU really piled on after that. Davis will be a handful inside.

  • Final score Michigan 74, Le Moyne 52.

  • Wayman Britt

Way to early observation: Wilson, Wagner, Doyle good hustle, making plays, helping teammates. Not so much for Donnal.

  • gobluemd16

Sloppy and unimpressive, but some positive signs especially from the big guns. The depth we thought we had looked extremely pedestrian tonight. My main concern is the defensive rebounding and 5-position in general.

  • Corperryale

Not sure why Donnal got the start. Didn’t see any improvement there. Maybe Ricky’s in the dog house, but he still shows more hustle.

    • Wayman Britt

Yeah, only one game, but everybody was talking up Donnal he did not show anything tonite. Looks like he is sleep walking. Have you ever seen him dive for a loose ball?

Seemed very lethargic, no killer instinct. I am thinking (hoping) this was due to playing the coaches son’s team? Great to see Walton Jr. back, I think his presence will make a huge difference as it seemed to me last season seemed began to fall apart after he injured his foot against Villanova. I hope Caris does not fall into thinking he needs to do it all. Can’t wait till it counts!

    • bobohle

Sometimes we seem to play down to the competition.

  • JJ3ball

Not much flow out there, not concerned with it, but it made the game hard to watch.
Couple of things stuck out as positives:
Wagner is going to be a force eventually
    Chatman can really distribute
Robinson looked strong with the ball. The weight training will pay dividends. His shot is true.
    Caris was Caris
    Walton was Walton
Nobody else really got into a flow from my perspective.

  • Corperryale

Highlight of the night: those dogs jumping for frisbees at half time. Do we have any scholarship space left?

  • bobohle

Doyle still can’t jump and lost several rebounds he couldn’t secure. Robinson looks good offensively, but gave up a bunch of 3s defensively. That was really scary when Levert went to the floor after trying that power dunk too far away from the rim.

Wondering what everyone thought of Donnal, Doyle, and Wagner. Huge concern for me is screens. Our centers Doyle and Donnal set weak pick and roll with absolutely no sense of urgency. Donnal is the worst offender of this by far. It is crazy to me. Wagner sets the most solid screens. Wagner can’t redshirt imo. Not an option. He might be our only hope at 5. He showed a lot of hustle that actually, at times, almost resulted in positive things.

Rebounding from center spot needs to improve big time.

What do others think of Wagner. I think he shows the greatest potential by far.

thats the starting line-up i said we would have months ago. Love this starting line-up, coach.
