Michigan updates 2015-16 roster with new heights, weights

Dylan Burkhardt

Michigan released a new version of its roster this afternoon with updated heights and weights for new and returning players.

Incoming freshman Moritz Wagner will wear No. 13 and is listed at 6-foot-10, 210 pounds. Another newcomer, preferred walk-on Brent Hibbitts will wear No. 1 and is listed at 6-foot-8, 190 pounds.

Redshirt sophomore Duncan Robinson added 20 pounds to his listed weight and is now listed at 6-foot-8, 210 pounds. DJ Wilson also managed to add weight during his redshirt season, the freshman is up to 6-foot-9, 240 pounds after being listed at 220 pounds last year.

Aubrey Dawkins added 15 pounds and is up to 205. Caris LeVert (6-foot-7, 205) and Derrick Walton (6-foot-1, 190) both added five pounds in the offseason.

Kameron Chatman measured in at 6-foot-8, 215 pounds for gains of an inch and five pounds.

Ricky Doyle is now listed at 6-foot-9, 250 pounds after he was listed at 6-foot-10 last season. Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman is still one of the skinniest players on Michigan’s roster, but even he’s up 10 pounds to 185.

  • Champswest

Seven guys over 6’8″. This team will have the size to hang with the bigger teams and we get even taller next year. I like the weight gain as well.

  • MrLG

For DJ, the 6’9″ seems too short and the 240 lb seems too heavy.

    • Corperryale

Agree. Although with his big gains he is making a run at Donnal’s minutes backing up Doyle.

      • Wayman Britt

Agree. Even without the gains he would be making a run at Donnal’s minutes. Can you say soft.

        • GTFOmycourt

Agree. Even without the gains and *even if Donnal improved a lot* Wilson will be making a run at Donnal’s minutes. Wilson is going to be good, in my opinion.

          • Nonegativity

You are not one of the staff members , so you know nothing stop hating on Donnal. I am done with this site. Too many fake and fairweathered SO CALLED FANS are hear!!! Bye!

          • GTFOmycourt

I wasn’t knocking Donnal. I think Wilson is going to be a beast!!

        • Nonegativity

I dont like you at all. All you do.is post negative crap. How dare you call a player on our roster soft. Have you played D1 basketball? The kid hasn’t even graduated and you are insulting him. All you do is be pessimistic about recruits coming to UM and currently dissing our current players. This might getme banned but i dont care. I don’t want to be part of any site that allows posters to trash players. All i see from you is “we need to upgrade pur current roster”. “I don’t think we can.get this recruit”or “this player is soft or not good enough” your post really ticks me off ….take the negativity elsewhere!!! I will.sy it since noone else will!

    • A2JD

That was what Webber was listed at when he was in A2. It all depends on what you can do at that height and weight. Seems like good B1G size to me.

      • Gtfomycourt

I think he meant Wilson seems taller and skinnier than 6’9″ and 240 pounds.

  • Mitch, Ace, AND Rico

We should run the BIG 10 this year!!! #GoBlue

  • Habooblika

Give me your twigs, your spindly souls, and we shall make them pros.

  • Wayman Britt

Really like to see that Duncan Robinson gained 20 lbs, that is a big change. I really hope to see that Duncan has a dribble drive game, because if he doesn’t then almost every opposing Big Ten coach (we all know who they are) will over play him, deny the pass and get in his face and just dare him to drive rather than shoot the three.

  • bobohle

I think Chatman will be a really key player this year. With the 2 bigs coming in 2016 Donnal will need to improve considerably this year or he will be lost.

  • David Remmler

On paper, that’s quite a roster. Compared to last year, we’re loaded. Imagine the difference from last year (if we stay healthy) – a healthy Caris Levert, a healthy Derrick Walton, a healthy, older and bigger DJ Wilson, a healthy and more experienced Ricky Doyle, a more experienced Mark Donnal, a more experienced (and proven scorer) Aubrey Dawkins, a more experienced MAAR, a more experienced Kam Chatman, elite shooter Duncan Robinson and the talented top-40ish Moritz Wagner.

    That’s amazing.

    • Cory

I think the biggest thing will be that the entire roster will be familiar with the offense from day 1 and we won’t have any growing pains.

    • bobohle

Don’t forget about Spike. He played 2 years with those now repaired bad hips.

      • David Remmler

Yeah, I absolutely love Spike. He’s my favorite current Michigan player. I was highlighting the differences from last year but you’re right, we should see a new and improved Spike too. Spike has been a critical part of Michigan’s resurgence. He’s a phenomenal player who would have started on most other teams. If we have a great year, he will be a key reason as long as he’s healthy.

  • UMTigersLionsWings

We are going to light it up from the 3 this year. Caris, Aubrey, Zak, Duncan, DW, Spike, Maar, and Moritz…..High scoring team for sure. I think we go final 4!

  • Ethan

I’m excited for this upcoming season, looking forward to seeing what all of these guys can do. I’m particularly excited to see what Ricky Doyle brings to the table under the basket. He’s such a strong physical kid. I was at the game against Wisky at Crysler last year and Kaminsky got completely man handled under the rack by 19 year old Ricky Doyle. Here’s hoping he can bring some balance to the offense and provide our shooters with some offensive boards.

  • X-7

Wondered: a sometimes lineup (for mismatch pressure?) of Lavert @point; Robinson @2; Dawkins @3; Irvin @4; Doyle @5.
    4 guys that 3-slang.
    4 Sling & 1; call it that? Yeah, drinking early . . .
Still, would be curious to see that lineup once in a while. Sort of like the 1-3-1, generates variation pressure.

    • ChaseGoBlue

Honestly I say play your best players and that’s the best in my opinion.
