Pregame Reading

  • SMU keeps giving the ball back… leaving Michigan to hang around, but ugly, ugly ugly.

  • Mattski

SMU would be willing to let us assert ourselves, but I’m not convinced we can.

  • Justin

Levert a little overrated right now better 3rd option than 1st

  • Mattski

This team is going to have to play fierce D to win games.

  • MGoTweeter

love the confidence from donnal today

  • Mark Donnal loses his job and gets a black eye this week in practice. Responds with the best game of his career.

  • Cory

Let’s go ahead and have the coaches keep being mean to Mark.

  • AMiddy2

    What is this madness?

  • Mattski

More heat than light, but we’ll take it.

  • Chezaroo

This game is ours if we wanna TAKE it

  • Justin

This team has no fire spark energy want to….just terrible to watch

    • AMiddy2

      what game are you watching?

    • Mattski

      Odd time to post that.

      • Justin

Whoops…was a little behind on the dvr…my bad.

  • jordan09

Gotta keep the momentum going or else we will tire out

  • MGoTweeter

the thing i like most from donnal today, is his rebounding in traffic. he has grabbed a couple today that he hasnt gotten all year

    • Chezaroo

He needs more designed shots, the kid can shoot

  • AMiddy2

    A LEAD?!?!?!!?!?!

  • Mattski

    How?

  • jordan09

    Fundamentals

  • Mattski

Derrick is not himself, that’s safe to say.

  • Mattski

    DRIVE on these foul-prone mothafletchas!

  • jordan09

    Levert needs come back

  • jordan09

    Levert! !!

  • AMiddy2

    False hope

  • Chezaroo

Kam is so confused out there

  • Justin

Yikes no tourney this year :( we’ve had a great run but losing guys to NBA is rearing its ugly head & no McDonalds All-Americans

  • jordan09

We know offensive fundamentals but none on defense or blocking out though. Love it!

  • Justin

    Wooooooooow

  • AMiddy2

MAKE THE F’N LAYUP DOYLE….. HOW F/N HARD IS THAT?!?!?!?

    • Mattski

All the internet coaches can do it.

      • AMiddy2

They probably could….. You juke a guy then miss a wide ope layup….. yup Go Blue

  • MGoTweeter

strange no donnal. way too late to be saving him

  • Chezaroo

    How ragged is this?

  • AMiddy2

This is pitiful….. Have a lead then absolutely crap the bed…. 6-5 Merry Christmas

  • jordan09

Good thing the stars are coming in 15..oh wait, we didnt recruit anyone

  • Chezaroo

Wow, this team has even more problems than it did last week

    • Mattski

Two things I’m a little shaken by–Zak missing so many, and Caris being so ineffective.

  • Michigan led 48-45 with 7:50 to play, now trail 62-48.

  • Chezaroo

How many 3s did we launch?

    • Tony DeMaria

      36

  • Tony DeMaria

Man this team is looking worse than some of Beileins early teams. Can’t do anything right. Need to go at least 12-6 in the Big Ten to have a chance at the tourney but the way they are playing we should just focus on winning a game…any game.

    • Chezaroo

Thanks God for Northwestern, I think.

  • Justin

Start benching people…gotta turn this crap around

    • Tony DeMaria

That’s not going to do anything. We just don’t have enough talent right now. LaVert was supposed to step up and be the guy. He’s failed this far and is instead pushing himself out of the draft entirely.

      • jordan09

Talent isnt coming next year either, we chose to neglect it for possible 2016 talent

        • Tony DeMaria

Yes I know it sucks. The only hope is all the young players progress and LaVert plays himself out of the draft and comes back for senior season

  • Tony DeMaria

Nothing like a 17-0 run over an 8 minute span to kill your spirit

  • Tony DeMaria

If Harbaugh doesn’t come here we should just shut up shop on Michiga athletics for a year.

  • David Remmler

Saw some good things today – good defense at times with key steals, fighting fir loose balls and some fire from Donnal – but overall a poor effort once again. Still not finishing well at the rim, too many turnovers for a Beilein team, 22 percent 3 pt shooting,, killed on the boards (44-28) and poor interior defense. Right now, we’re not even looking good enough for the NIT. But we’ll most likely improve significantly over the course of the season and make a run at the tourney. The players need to realize there’s usually a fine line between winning and losing.

  • Justin

Recruiting guys thats the difference. I only see 3 guys i would want to start right now and only 5 or 6 players that should play entirely. This is the product of not hsving much tslent. Bad recruiting after the nc is crazy to me. When you miss off the floor, you start to miss on it. We failed in recruiting to maintain our level of being a top 10 program and for that i am very upset. Beilein has show to be a great finder of talent and developing talent but overall we have not gotten enough top end recruits to be a consistent top 10 program. I dont care what you say. 1 or 2 top 50 players per year wont cut it with the likes of uk, ku, zona, duke, osu, Louisville, unc, ucla, florida, syracuse consistently pulling in more.

    • Tony DeMaria

Yup. Which is why I was a bit surprised that no one was overly up in arms about it over the summer. Beilein can coach up all the under appreciated talent he wants but you need those blue chippers to come in there because you aren’t getting 4 year Zack Novaks with consistent success. 2 years if you’re lucky.

      • Justin

I was up in arms but i got shot down by dylan and others on this board who were drinking the beilein kool aid. Only two consensus top 50 players in irvin and chatman on the roster isnt enough. We need 6 to 8. You have to plan for guys leaving for the nba and it should help ur team get these top end recruits. Look at my list of teams above. Each of those squads have the ability to replace guys and have taken many on our wishlists. Too many project players with donnal, wilson, and doyle plus marr and dawkins who all could all be career backups plus albrecht who we know is one as well as max. That is not good enough. Walton hurt or not will never play in the nba and we missed out on jalen brunson who mark it down will be a stud immediately in college and will play in the league. Not acceptable.

        • jr_ewing93

You crazy if you think Walton want make it to the league.

    • Vince

Not sure about if it is fair to expect us to “maintain our level being a top 10 program”. We have 1 overachieved/surprised final four run but we are far from being considered a blue blood program. Losing key recruiting battles definitely hurt but imho this year we are really paying for our considerable over-achievement the past two years.

  • Vince

Lack of athleticism, youth/inexperienced players, no interior size, key players toughing out injuries, we probably need to vastly out hustle AND out shoot any opponent in the KP100 to have any chance to win. We can hope for improvement on the offensive rotation during the season but with our current roster we just don’t have enough pieces to compete.

    • Justin

Not enough out hustling going on..that’s the problem.Levert is no Burke or Stauskas either.
