Pre-Game Reading

  • KAM

why did dawkins move from the corner?

  • Justin

Going to be a miracle to finish with a winning record

  • Justin

    Getting rolled right now….lifeless!

  • Burke_Does_Work

You look at a lot of teams that are bad, and they have a few things they do well. We don’t do anything well right now.

  • Alex

    Sports!

    :(

They’re not ready for this game. Hopefully they get better and maybe next year. This is not fair of me but these last few games have beat me down although obviously it’s infinitely worse for our team.

I’ll personally watch till 10 minutes but can’t watch any more.

  • Justin

Painful to watch right now :(

  • Justin

Just a terrible shooting team this year!how many long droughts every game?!

  • Justin

Let the crowd sit already lol

  • Justin

Conference play will not be fun this year :o

    • jemblue

You’ve got to calm down man. It’s not our day but Beilein’s teams usually get a lot better as the year goes on.

  • Corperryale

Can’t we just get a 7’4″ Cameroonian rim protector already? I seriously would not care if he shot 2% from outside the offensive foul circle.

    • Kam

Honestly i want a 6’10- 6’11 shot blocking athlete.. get lobs and blocks.. we never have those..

    • Burke_Does_Work

I agree..I just want a hyper athletic 6’10 to 7 footer that plays great post defense, gets rebounds and scores off putbacks…who cares if he’s not skilled, that’s what positions 1-4 are for

      • Corperryale

Only problem is that those guys are usually one-and-done and we tend to avoid those like the plague (for reasons beyond my understanding). The logic seems to be that undersized guys are a better fit because they’re more likely to stick around. And so it continues…

  • AMiddy2

I see the Arizona 2015 Slam Dunk is still going.
Looks like the Michigan 2015 Slip-n-Slide is going on too

    • Corperryale

      wardrobe malfunction

  • Justin

How many slips? Reminds me of Redskins slipping on field

  • devdawg

    ouch

  • thomas

Levert will probably leave this year. 2015 is going to be brutal.

  • Justin

Beat SMU! I’ve got nothing else.

  • Burke_Does_Work

At least I’m a Patriots fan or else this would be a painful sports season

    • AMiddy2

      I am a UM fan.
      Jags NFL.
      Braves MLB.
      Bulls NBA.

      The struggle is my life

  • Dr_ZC

Too painful to watch. Taking a beating.

  • MGoTweeter

Most disappointed in the veteran guys on this team. We knew the young guys would struggle but the guys who played last season, are just so hit or miss with effort and leadership. Really tired of seeing some of these guys swipe their hand at a driving opponent and then turn and yell at the guys behind him for not being there to help.

    • KAM

michigan hasnt played defense in years

      • MGoTweeter

that’s not true at all. Michigan has not been particularly good on defense, but they were always positive in the effort department.

        • Kam

They tried hard at it but stunk.. They were god awful last year and bad the year before..

        • Kam

They weren’t even top 150 in defense last year if i remember right.

          • MGoTweeter

109, 48, 61. last three years. Not great but not “stunk” levels. Again, my point was not that they were good, just that the effort and energy were there. This year that is not the case

      • Corperryale

I think part of it is they try too hard not to foul. (Which doesn’t help much against homer refs.) Too many touch fouls and not enough hard smack downs at the rim.

  • Chezaroo

    Varsity vs. JV

  • MGoTweeter

take Irvin out of the dang game please. can stand to watch guys stand there as the other team punks them

    • Chezaroo

      Only offense

  • AMiddy2

We re getting run out of the gym…. Bent over…. Boat raced…. Man handled… Y’all get my point
Chatham knows this is not HS ball anymore?
Thank the Lord for Rutgers or we may finish last in the B1G this year

    • Chezaroo

      Wow

      • AMiddy2

Wow…. we suck? that was mean? help us? Wow what? lol

        • Chezaroo

          It’s one game dude.

          • AMiddy2

            It’s 3 games in a row

    • MGoTweeter

still think its too early to say things like that afterall this was up on Nova at the free thrown line in the last minute and they did beat Syracuse. Things have gone crazy south the last three games, but not a coach in the country I would rather have to figure things out than Beilein.

      • Indiana_Matt

        Agreed. Perspective, people.

        • JohnNavarreIsMyHero

Amazed how ridiculous people can get saying we will finish last place.

No elite teams in the Big Ten. I personally think Wisconsin is solid, but a step behind the Duke (as they showed already) and Arizona.

The rest is up for grabs.

  • jenkijoci

All I Want For Christmas is Jaylen Brown…

    • AMiddy2

      is a win

  • Corperryale

    That alley-oop fixed everything.

  • Hail Blue

Those last two long threes by Levert and Irvin arent really bad shots. The last three years we had guys who would make those easily.

    • Hail Blue

even though both of them are 40% plus shooters from deep

  • thomas

I think 2016-2017 is the next season we have a chance at being good

    • AMiddy2

Being REALLY good. Title town goood

    • MGoTweeter

its understandable but lots of overreacting right now in this thread

      • Old Man

Thank you. It is number 3 in the country at home. We will improve from this.

        • MGoTweeter

don’t need to thank me. ive had my share of overreactions both today and in the past.

  • Fresh

I have said this already and will most likely say it again………..its going to be a very long year if spike is getting 25-30 mins, greeat role player, but for a high D1 team he should never ever be getting more than 10 mins a game… EVER

JB really dropped the ball by not getting a legit back up for caris………the freshmen will develop but its going to be a rough season

recruiting has to be better for all the success they have seen recently

    • Richmond_Eric

would anyone be complaining about recruiting if Trey, GR3, Nik, and McGary were still wearing the Maize and Blue?

      • Corperryale

Other great teams reload. Michigan is not the only program that has had the misfortune of losing people to the league. Plus, most teams consider that a selling point and are able to use it to pull in more great players who are ready to contribute from day one. Arizona lost two key players too but brought in an instant star in Stanley Johnson.

  • Burke_Does_Work

I like Kam’s shifty hands, he seems to cause a lot of TOs

  • MGoTweeter

chatman really needs to learn how to finish strong. Seems like he always gets caught in an awkward position and does not get a good jump when finishing.

  • Fresh

we also need to realized that with the exception of irvin there are zero shooters or they at least haven’t shown any consistency yet on this team. walton, chatman, spike, irvin, and even caris have been really bad shooting thus far.

  • Chezaroo

    Glorified scrimmage. Ouch!

    • AMiddy2

      Ouch is right

  • Corperryale

I am of two minds on the frustration. I want to stay positive but it is really disappointing that they couldn’t convert success on-court over 3+ years into recruiting success. Meanwhile OSU etc. keep rolling while MSU, even with the huge step back, seems to be respectable. So we all get behind the team (including recruits nobody has ever heard of, and roll players playing starter minutes) but the myth that JB can turn anybody into an NBA star is just that — a myth. Not everybody succeeds within the system, and without the right personnel, the system itself won’t succeed.

    • MGoTweeter

think that is a little myopic. If GRIII and McGary did not go pro last year, which there was a pretty good chance of happening, this team would be much different. Guys like Irvin, Albrecht, Donnal, Chatman would all be playing less minutes and get another year to mature before being thrust into big roles in 2015.

      • jakelam2116

Absolutely. 1) This doesn’t just happen at UM; look at the miserable seasons UNC has had after mass departures; 2) It’s Dec. 13. I’m not giving up on the season now.

      • Corperryale

OK, granted, GRIII and McGary did go pro. So did Nick Johnson and Aaron Gordon for Arizona. So did Jabari Parker and Rodney Hood at Duke. The difference? Those teams reloaded, Michigan did not.

  • jenkijoci

So we have been destroyed, but still they are our Wolverines. Have a safe trip back home young fellas, forever Go Blue!

  • Hail Blue

Frankly the pain is more from the two losses before. If we are 8-1 coming in, this could easily be seen as just losing to a better team, on the road, and a bad shooting night made it even worse. However the defense has looked awful in 2 of the last 3 and the offense has looked awful in 2 of the last 3. Its just a huge mess right now.

    • JohnNavarreIsMyHero

This loss, even if the score was the same is no big deal if we are 8-1 like we should have been.

If we want to be a NBA factory, you have to reload your roster. Our recent recruiting class has far too many guys that are nowhere near ready and wasting red-shirts in the process.

Beilein is capable of getting the guys. He needs to start getting them on campus.

  • Indiana_Matt

This hurt but I agree the 2 games before hurt much more. But these same kids almost beat Villanova. Maybe there is some salvaging to be done. We probably got a couple more poundings to come though. But maybe we will start figuring something out in late January. Or not. Who knows! They are teenagers :)

I still think we could make the dance. I still think we’ll be in the Final Four again before Michigan State or IU (2017, baby).

  • JohnNavarreIsMyHero

This team plays with zero confidence. We concede way too much right now.

We were supposed to have the offense as our security blanket. Once your strength is not even a strength, we struggle.

We have had so many careless turnovers and bad misses – mid range shots that aren’t even close to going in.
