I believe in BEILEIN…lets not lose faith in the rest of the season….great coaches make adjustments and hopefully some of our freshmen develop OR else its going to be a long season….Irvin & Walton need to step up….if not it is….FACT

    • Fab 5 Legends

Burke, Hardway, Stauskas, Mitch, GR3, Levert & Spike all developed…maybe too fast for some…and we were spoiled but its seems like Irvin, Walton and maybe even Levert need all 4 years

      • Anthony

Levert is really good he won’t need another year he’s ready he just doesn’t have much around him

        • Indiana_Matt

Agree that LeVert doesn’t need another year.

  • Max

Here’s to hoping we are just sneaking up on conference play!

  • Fab 5 Legends

coaches just dont trust chatman out there…hopefully by big ten play he can be a bigger contributer – i felt he was going to be our x-factor in order for us to have a decent year…

    • Anthony

He isn’t going to be he’s soft against emu and njit he probably won’t be ready until next season

      • Fab 5 Legends

true, i just dont want to give up on this season yet…but i do believe we will be great team next year…with levert returning as well

        • Indiana_Matt

It is silly to give up on any college basketball team in December.

  • Skip

Nice way to rebound after NJIT humiliation. wait, this team doesnt know how to rebound….terribky weak if non existant weak 4and 5. D walton leading rebounder….
Spike god awful and irvin ot what we saw in the first few games…
Not hopeful about jb turning this around

  • Justin

I know they’re young but I didn’t see this coming…I mean back to back no shows at home?!

  • Anthony

When you are relying on spike this many minutes you are not going to win and it’s showing he’s a nice player, but not someone you can count on on a night in night out basis. The problem is this team only has three capable players every night. MAAR and Dawkins clearly aren’t ready to contribute and I’m not sure they ever will be you can’t be expected to hit a homerun on two stars every time.

    • Fab 5 Legends

agree, unfortunately beilein doesnt believe in MAAR or Dawkins like you mentioned…having Spike and Walton out there at the same time leaves us vulnerable defensively…and on the boards….

  • Fab 5 Legends

i felt they should have given muhammed ali-rakhman some more pt after his play at the end of the 1st half…in my opinion

  • P.Rose

We are really feeling the effects of our “would be” upperclassman leaving for the NBA. Unfortunately, we have replaced them with players that are not ready for D1.

    • Fab 5 Legends

exactly…after 2 consecutive years of underclassman being nba ready and quickly developed = a bunch of freshmen and sophmore that are not ready to be the vocal points of the team…im hoping everyone comes back for next year…including LEVERT

  • Justin

Blackmon jr would have been nice or just having Mitch would’ve been huge!! No leaders out there!

  • Fab 5 Legends

Rebounds, Rebounds, Rebounds….with Spike/Walton out there at the same time…and the only really rebounding player we have out there is Doyle/Beifeildt…were going to be in trouble with Arizona unfortunately

  • Guest

Beilein and the staff have been asleep at the wheel so far this year. extremely disappointing.

  • JohnNavarreIsMyHero

Can’t shoot, can’t defend, and can’t beat two podunk community colleges – all a week after a big win against Syracuse.

How is it possible for a team to throw away its season in the matter of 7 days, especially one coached by Beilein.

    Flat out amazing.

  • Fab 5 Legends

we definitely live and die by the 3…i would like irvin to take it to the rack more often…only positive is levert is definetly bound for a great statistical season

  • AMiddy2

Now is the time to be concerned. I have not seen this Michigan offense look so confused and lost since Coach B arrived…. In the long run not so much concern but these next few months could be rough. Lack of size, live/die by the three that “3” being Walton, Irving, and LeVert, young guys looking lost and I mean Cast Away lost…. Lord have mercy on us in Zona

    • JohnNavarreIsMyHero

This team the last 2 games looks like the 2007-2009 versions, except this team has huge talent in Levert, Walton, and Irvin.

I feeling like we have gone back in time with the continued missing of three pointers and inability to rebound the basketball.

      • AMiddy2

At least that team had Novak to grab a few boards…. Talent no question is there. These kids are 17-18-19 and as a college athlete experience is VERY key. LeVert has the keys to a sports car but it’s being driven like a minivan right now. Someone needs to shift this thing into another gear

        • JohnNavarreIsMyHero

Indeed he needs to take over. He has the talent. Take it to the hole, get fouled, and dominate. Everything else will flow from there.

  • KG

NJIT and EMU at home? could it possibly get more humiliating?

    • AMiddy2

      Ya 2 D3 schools

  • AMiddy2

We could use Jon Teske right about now too

  • Indiana_Matt

Ugh. What an ugly experience. Wow. Well, we were bound to fall on hard times at some point. Having a super young team every year… eventually it had to catch up with us. These kids will grow. I trust the staff.

At a time like this I am thankful for the internet and the fact that I can replay that first half at Illinois last year when we scored 52 points against a team that had absolutely locked down the last few teams they had played. We had their heads spinning. Remember Stauskas burying that three and taunting the student section after the buzzer sounded?

    My happy place.

Just now read through some of the comments. Kind of embarrassing to see fans pile on the coaching staff. This staff has hung multiple B1G title banners and a Final Four banner in addition to coming a desperation 3 from going back to the Final Four last year. There are bumps in the road sometimes. Sometimes whole seasons are bumps, as uncomfortable as that is. Put two or three bad seasons in a row together and then I could understand some complaining. But two bad games?

  • Justin

    Guys,

I have said this many times and been ripped apart by others on this site. We have missed out on way too many recruits the last few years. We do not have enough ready talent on this roster. Beilein is a great coach but obviously something is missing on the recruiting side. I thought why not go to Michigan a year ago, unfortunately no one of real significance jumped on the ship and as a result our team is currently on the outside looking in.

If the tournament started today we would be out. I expected us to be a bubble team all year long but to lose to NJIT and EMU is downright embarrassing. Even Tommy Amaker’s Wolverines with Horton, Harris and Abram wouldn’t have lost to those teams especially consectively . It’s time to really put in the work and hours and figure out how UM will stay a TOP 10 program because right now we don’t look like it. Half of roster looks like it needs to be redshirted including Donnal, two redshirt seasons required for him make him not worthy of a scholarship at a TOP 10 program.

I can only laugh about this to avoid curling up in a ball and crying. This is going to be more of an up and down season than i would have hoped. Hopefully Zona is feeling generous on Saturday and will not run up the score. Fingers crossed some real improvement happens before conference play.
