this game will come down to the wire, Detroit not going away, Michigan not executing

  • Fab 5 Legends

MAx is our best option as our 5

  • Bigrange

Seems that some of our shots are rushed. Let’s see some ball movement

  • jemblue

Huge exchange of possessions there. As good as Howard’s been, he’s taken a couple of bad heat-check shots lately.

  • Fab 5 Legends

juwan howard jr got the green light lol hahahah he takes some wild shots

  • jpsturg

It’s nice seeing defensive stops when we really need it. Just need to tighten up on those switches

  • Chezaroo

Caris time now. He can get to the line from here on out.

  • MGoTweeter

looks likemichigan may get away with it but i think beilein made a big tactical mistake playing these fourguys the whole half. i know he doesnt trust the freshmen yet but its too early in the year to play these kinds of minutes

    • jemblue

Yeah it seemed like they got a little winded and lost concentration for a few possessions there.

    • jpsturg

I don’t think it’s too big of a deal yet but if this is a regular occurrence, I could see the problem

  • jpsturg

Detroit’s late-game plan seems to be just give it to Howard Jr. to shoot. His last couple of shots have not been smart shots

  • Walton–>Irvin. Corner three. Ball game.

  • Fab 5 Legends

starting to pull away! go blue! up 11

  • Burke_Does_Work

Just let it fly Zak, let it fly

  • Bigrange

    Huge shot Zac!!

  • Cory

Anyone else heading to New York for the Barclays games?

    • jemblue

I’ve never been there but I’ve heard we’ve always had a huge turnout when we’ve played there.

  • kam

AHAHH SPIKE LET HOWARD EAT THAT!

    • jpsturg

      So nice!

    • jemblue

That’s a will-breaker. We’ve worked the clock really well these last few possessions.

      • Chezaroo

        Experience

  • Bigrange

Veteran players coming up big for us. Hopefully our young players can make some progress soon. Big games coming up.

Beware when you slap the floor against Michigan.

It’s just not conducive to winning. Nice performance, finish the game, and get ready for Oregon in Brooklyn. Have to finish this game but way to lock it down.

Go Blue and good job responding as the announcers say that. Keep it up team.

    • Burke_Does_Work

I’ve noticed that as well. Whenever a team slaps the floor against us, they’re usually in for a bad time.

  • jpsturg

In conference news, Iowa up by 8 against #10 Texas

  • Chezaroo

Those Frosh are not yet ready. JB knows it. Did Kam even play the last 18 minutes?

    • kam

      no.

  • Chezaroo

Be interesting next week. First games away from home. Sure would be happy with a split, but it won’t be easy.

  • kam

I don’t think ricky played at all

    • Burke_Does_Work

He did, but like 2 min at most

    • Chezaroo

Reality check for all of them. For those who thought Kam and Donnal were gonna be a seamless transition to a big year, I’m thinking not so much.

  • MGoTweeter

nice to get the win but thisteam definitely hasa ways to go. i really hope JB plays the freshmen more mistakes or not.. gonna be tough to play that lineup all year

    • Bigrange

They will need to give quality minutes, otherwise the veterans will get burnt out by the end of the year. I’d rather see us drop a couple games early due to the inexperience and youth ratherthan lose late games that cost us a B1G championship or tourney seeding.

    • Chris De Sana

Was thinking the same thing…. he says Zak should keep shooting regardless if it goes in or not the Freshman should get big minutes win or lose early in the season otherwise our season long goals will not be in reach.

  • GTFOmycourt

When our guards get defensive rebounds–wow–they get down the floor fast. We had a lot of good and open looks in transition that just did not fall. Walton and Levert push the ball even harder and faster than Burke and Hardaway, imo. Plus they get more rebounds. I am impressed with how well conditioned the guys seem to be and I like seeing the guard push the ball hard but I just don’t see that as a sustainable strategy if JB is forced to play such a short bench. The guys will just get way too worn down.

    • Chris De Sana

Am I the only one that thinks Caris is really pressing? He seems to be off his game… driving too deep into the heart of the defense rather than pulling up and taking a lot of off balance shots when he should kick it out and reset the offense.
