UM Hoops Podcast 2.5: USA Today’s Nicole Auerbach

Dave and I checked in after Michigan completed an impressive win against Michigan State in East Lansing, a solid but sloppy win over Purdue at home and then a disheartening loss to Indiana at Assembly Hall. The Indiana loss certainly put a damper on what has so far been a wildly successful conference season, and we try to put the loss into context while exploring the different developments that have taken place with the team since the Michigan State win.

  • We are first joined by Nicole Auerbach, USA Today’s national college basketball writer. Nicole is a good friend of mine and a former sports editor at the Michigan Daily. She takes more a national view of Big Ten happenings and discusses the conference’s national rep. She is also familiar with Nebraska’s basketball program and offers some insight on Michigan’s next opponent. We also discuss our mutual love for Tim Miles.
  • Later, Dave Merritt and I touch on a wide range of topics: from Indiana’s curiously effective defensive strategy to what Glenn Robinson III needs to do to be more of a force to the development of Derrick Walton, we cover pretty much everything there is to talk about. I also promise fewer instances of “fasho” in this podcast.

The songs, in order: Statik Selektah, Bird’s Eye View; Joey Bada$$, Survival Tactics; Joey Bada$$, Unorthodox.
