UM Hoops Podcast 2.2: Josh Bartelstein and Brendan F. Quinn

We had a quick turnaround for the second installment of this season’s UM Hoops Podcast. After a disappointing loss at Duke, Michigan has a chance to make some noise with Arizona coming to Ann Arbor on Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, Dave Merritt couldn’t be here for this edition, but we had a couple of excellent guests on the show: Former Michigan basketball captain Josh Bartelstein and MLive Michigan beat reporter Brendan F. Quinn. Apologies for the sound issues at the beginning.

  • Josh Bartelstein joins us to go in-depth with the major storylines surrounding Michigan’s season so far. As usual, Josh brings it. He addresses everything from the philosophy behind Michigan’s pick-and-roll action to what he sees defenses are planning for when they play the Wolverines. He goes into some detail explaining how he would counter the defensive gameplan Duke implemented against Nik Stauskas and also articulates what he sees as Glenn Robinson III’s true role on this team. Trust me, you want to hear what Josh has to say.
  • We then shift gears and are joined in studio by MLive reporter Brendan Quinn. Brendan is new to the beat this year. We discuss a wide range of topics, from Derrick Walton’s unique role as a Michigan point guard who doesn’t dominate the ball to the similarities between Aaron Gordon and Mitch McGary. We dive into Michigan’s matchup with Arizona and Brendan gives us his keys to the game.

The music was a little weird today: Dr. Octagon, who’s really Kool Keith of Ultamagnetic MCs. All songs are instrumentals off the album Dr. Octagonecologyst. In order: Blue Flowers, Real Raw, Dr Octagon
