Mitch McGary was named a preseason All-American by the Sporting News according the a press release from Oklahoma State.
Marcus Smart was joined on the All-America first team by Creighton senior Doug McDermott, sophomore Mitch McGary of Michigan, as well as freshmen Jabari Parker of Duke and Kansas’ Andrew Wiggins. Smart and McDermott were both first-team All-Americans in 2013 according to Sporting News.
The magazine also had the Cowboys ranked preseason No. 10, following top-ranked Kentucky, No. 2 Michigan State, third-ranked Louisville, No. 4 Duke, fifth-ranked Arizona, No. 6 Kansas, seventh-ranked Michigan, No. 8 Syracuse and ninth-ranked North Carolina.
