Video: Glen Rice, Cazzie Russell and Dave Brandon at Crisler Dedication

The newly-renovated Crisler Center played host to a couple of Michigan’s all-time greats on Friday night. During the dedication ceremony of the new-look home of Michigan basketball, Desmond Howard joined former Michigan basketball stars Cazzie Russell, Glen Rice and Diane Dietz for a conversation that touched on all sorts of subjects. After the ceremony, we caught up with Glen Rice, Cazzie Russell and Dave Brandon to talk about this year’s team. You can watch using the embedded media players below. It’s good to see Glen Rice in A2. For those of us that are old enough to remember, what he did in the tourney was amazing and still hasn’t been equaled.

The essential miracle of high-level hoop–that you can throw a 9-and-a-half inch ball through an 18-inch hole, sometimes from 20 or more feet away, was never more apparent than in Rice’s rainbow jumpers, especially during that stretch.

Met Glenn Rice in Atlantic City a couple of years ago when Michigan played in the same early season tourney as his son. He could not have been nicer in person and still is a huge M fan. But he was a little disappointed M did not recruit his son.

Does anyone know if they and other former players will be at the game Sunday?

@1:54, Glen Rice on rooting for Michigan during 8 years of (mostly) losing:

“You know what, it wasn’t hard. And the reason why I say that is because we have an unconditional love for Michigan. You know, it’s real easy to be there and cheer when they’re winning. The one thing we wanted to do was be there when they were losing, because that’s when they needed us the most.”

You gotta love G. Rice. You gotta.
