Glenn Robinson III appeared before the media on Monday to talk about his own personal progression as a player as well as Michigan’s progress as a whole. You can listen using the embedded media player below or read selected notes and quotes after the jump.
- “I think the whole team has grown a lot. Personally, I have, especially on the defensive end. That’s one thing we focus on every practice… I do believe I have improved myself and so has the team.”
- On if he’s familiar with playing in the post: “I played a little bit of post in high school, so I’m kind of used to it. But, it’s a little different; bigger guys, way taller, so I think that’s one of the skills I can do and continue to progress in and keep working on.”
- On what it’s like going up against college big men: “They’re real strong, they know how to use their body to get position. That’s one of the key things I need to be working on in practice: being able to move those guys and get them off the block.”
- On scoring more earlier in games than later: “I don’t think I’m getting tired. I think the game is changing. I might be open a couple times, knock down some shots and drive to the lane, and then people are more open. I think that we do a good job of sharing the ball. When I’m open, I get the ball, so I’m not mad about that.”
- On scoring a very quiet 17 points on Saturday against Arkansas: “I hit a couple open 3’s, I believe that’s something about my game, where I can change from shooting to driving. Trey (Burke) does a good job and Tim (Hardaway Jr.) does a good job of finding me when I’m cutting to the lane or open for a shot.”
- “Nik (Stauskas) being probably our best shooter on the team, he’s open a lot and you can kind of tell that (opposing teams) are sitting on him and that opens up more players driving to the lane or maybe they don’t trust somebody else making the three.”
- Stauskas got into the starting lineup mainly by staying aggressive and “doing what he needs to do on the defensive end. He’s not scared to take any shot, and he makes them. He does a great job in the offense and understanding what we do.”
- On the intensity of practices: “I would say practices are the hardest part about everything. Practices, to me, are way harder than the games. We’re very tough competitors. Everybody out here wants to win. Practices are very competitive and, like I said, way harder than games.” Tim Hardaway Jr. and Mitch McGary are usually matched up on Robinson. “I have to switch up between the guards and the post.”
