Trey Burke No. 9, Tim Hardaway Jr. No. 35 in CBS Top 100

CBS Sports ranked the top-100 college basketball players in the country and two Wolverines were tabbed for the list. Trey Burke checked in ninth and Tim Hardaway Jr. at 35th.

Burke flirted with entering the NBA Draft after a remarkable and somewhat surprising freshman season before wisely returning to school. If he can avoid a sophomore slump, this Ohio native could lead the Wolverines to a Big Ten title.

Hardaway struggled last season after a stellar freshman season, but he finished strong down the stretch and will look to capitalize on that momentum. Can score in different ways

Burke was also named a second team All-American by both CBS Sports and NBC Sports. Also at CBS, Doug Gottlieb picked the Wolverines as one of his Final Four selections.

Is it just me, or is anyone else not buying the Cody Zeller as the unanimous player of the year hype? He’s very good, but if I’m gameplanning against Indiana, stopping Cody is 3rd on my list behind stopping their transition game and preventing open 3 pointers. Zeller is the type of player you don’t notice much while watching the game, and then you look at the box score afterwards and go “oh wow, when did he get 16 and 8?”

Great player. Odds are he looks more dominating this year. But I look forward to the matchup with our bigs.

I agree. Cody is a great player and will probably have a good season, but I just don’t peg him as a POY type or a #1 draft pick. He’s just not athletic or aggressive enough (both things that he could demonstrate more this year). #1 draft picks are guys with high ceilings and I just don’t see him doing much more than he did last year.
