Scouting Video: Amanze Ekegeze at 2012 Spiece Run ‘n Slam

Dylan Burkhardt

Michigan has paid close attention to 2014 Illinois Wolves forward Keita Bates-Diop but have also been watching his teammate, Amanze Ekegeze. Ekegeze has played well this spring and already holds offers from DePaul and Toledo but has also drawn strong interest from Michigan and Wisconsin. Here’s video of Ekegeze in action at the 2012 Hensley Memorial Spiece Run ‘n Slam in Fort Wayne, Ind.

This guy I like. Quick feet. Uses both hands around the basket. Curious about his actual height but I like the way he plays.

    • He appears to be shorter than Keita Bates-Diop, probably around 6-foot-6.

Ekegeze looks like a mini-Udoh. Great length and good touch around the basket but not much else. Not sure where he would play in college if he does not grow another couple inches. Cannot see him being effective in the Beilein offense as a 3.

Bluiett looks like the top wing target for 2014.

Except Udoh’s #1, #2, and #3 strengths were blocking shots, which we see none of here…

I am talking about his offensive game. Long, wiry, face up post players with decent ball skills and outside shot.

I probably wouldn’t offer this kid right away but I’d keep in contact with him in case he grows another 2 or 3 inches.
