2013 Michigan commitment Zak Irvin has had a big junior season for Hamilton Southeastern and here’s a collection of highlights compiled by

The more I see of Irvin the more I think he’s going to be great. Rivals has him as a 4 star and #54 in the country, whereas espn and scout have him as a 3 star.  I think this year  he is going to blow up in the rankings(especially in the summer on the AAU circuit). I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if he shot up to a top #15 type player by the end of next year…He looks that good.

Yeah I think his rankings might be affected a little bit by playing in Gary Harris’ shadow. I can definitely see a GRIII like jump for him this summer.

The present is bright and the future is brighter.

Goodness, highlights caveats accepted.  Zak Irvin is definitely GR III 2.0 in a great way. Looks like he has some range to his shot and he can absolutely drive.  Classes of 2012 and 2013 are so solid.  Go Blue!!!

I think he’s similar to THJ than GRIII. Irvin can shoot but is a better athlete than THJ.  THJ is a solid athlete but does not possess explosiveness that he can get by defenders with ease.

He already looks like a better ball handler too.

One thing to keep in mind with Irvin is that he is still growing.  As of now, he is a legit 6’6″ but it is not unthinkable for him to be 6’7″ or even 6’8″ by the time he hits campus.  He is not very strong going to his left at this point, and his release is kind of slow, but those are two things that can be fixed.  Zak is not the dynamic athlete that GRIII is, but he is long and a future matchup nightmare for opposing Big Ten teams.  I 100% agree that Zak will be a consensus top 25ish prospect by this time next year.  Get ready UM fans because we have not seen this type of talent at the 2 and 3 spots since the early 1990’s.  It’s great to be a Michigan Wolverine.
