love the attitude of these guys.  Both mentioning how they hustle, are hard workers and team players.  Definitely going to miss Zach and Stu especially on defense, but hopefully the added length and athleticism can make up for some that.

I was daydreaming about how, if Stauskas can bring the ball up the floor okay, Beilein can get 5 minutes a game of the Bombs Away 1-3-1 Lineup: Stauskas, Hardaway, Vogrich, Smotrycz and McLimans.

I’ve been thinking the same thing.  I can’t think of a reason Stauskus shouldn’t log some minutes behind trey at the 1.  I think Trey Robinson would fit in that lineup at the four as well…or go SUPER fast with smot at 5 and trey robinson at 4. (on second thought is smot any faster than blake? …)

anyway, yeah, i hope nick gets some run at the backup point.

Agree that Robinson’s length would play real well in the zone – but I can’t find numbers on his three point shooting. Can he shoot his way on to the Bomb Squad?

The personnel next year will allow a bunch of new lineups – the coaching staff should have fun planning things out this offseason. Beilein’s never had enough quality bigs to play two posts – I wonder if he has some twists on the high-low that he’s had sitting on the back burner for a while.

Does GRIII really go by “Trey?” That could become confusing, though not as bad as Sparty’s Brandon-fest.

Anyway, one lineup I definitely see him in is the Attack the Damn Rim Team: Burke, Brundidge, Hardaway, Robinson, McGary/Morgan/Horford. Have fun pressing that group, Arkansas…

Yeah, I think GRIII goes by Trey.  And yeah, I thought he was supposed to have pretty good range, even though he is most known for athleticism lately, before he was out jumping everyone I think his game is considered pretty versatile.

Super fast with Smot at the 5? Serious? McGary appears to be more athletic than Smot and for that matter McLimans is probably more athletic than Smot.

        • gpsimms

yeah, i know, i acknowledged smot’s not fast, but i think the point of the lineup was combo of speed and shooting.  i know blake’s been coming on, but smot has got to be the better shooter, right?  plus his handle is hopefully going to improve.  it’d be fun to have 5 guys who can dribble off the board.
