  • 110595111_crop_650x440[1] Summer Sessions: Head Coach John Beilein
“We have really grown as a group over the last several years and we understand what it takes to win. We will continue to remind the players of the little intangibles that made them special last year, but I think they have an appreciation for our success and are eager to succeed even further this upcoming season.”

  • Dick Vitale Preseason Top 40 – 21-30
” 21. Michigan: John Beilein’s team surprised many people last season, but they will have even higher expectations this time around. Led by sophomore shooting guard, Tim Hardaway Jr., look for the Wolverines to be a force in the Big Ten this season.”
  • U16 Super Showcase recap
Mark Donnal: He is a tough insider who can score and rebound. The Michigan commit has really improved in the past year and is moving toward being an impact player by the time he arrives in the Big Ten. Donnal can face up and shoot to 19 feet, but is also effective on the low block and is not afraid to try to dunk on an unsuspecting opponent. Plus, Donnal is a good rebounder in the paint and a solid position rebounder.
  • Las Vegas Day 3 recap
“Michigan commit Nik Stauskas (Missisauga, Ontario/St. Mark’s) has gotten stronger and more explosive in the lane, while maintaining his niche as a lights out shooter from the perimeter. Those developments have him on the verge of taking his game to the next level, but he needs to do a better job of harnessing his emotions when the whistle isn’t going his way.”
  • Vegas: Day Four, Part B ($)
“His three-point shot looks smooth and although he wasn’t finishing well, Stauskas didn’t have much trouble slashing to the basket.”

When did U-M stop recruiting 2012 PG Jordan Poydras ? Last year at this time U-M was all over the kid. Plus in the last couple of days Ray Lee picked up an offer from Texas, thats another 2012 Midwest player I thought U-M had the hottts for.

    • MHoops1

Hard to say they were all over kids who never received an offer. Lots of ’12s got them in the summer/fall of 2010, including Robinson, Stauskas, Hawkins, Costello, Valentine, Dorsey-Walker and McGary. These guys didn’t, and Lee was at the Team Camp last year.

    • It was pretty clear that Ray Lee wasn’t going to get a Michigan offer at the end of last summer. Jordan Podras is a MM/MM+ type kid that they showed some interest in at an early juncture.

      • Bluebufoon

I mention Lee and Poydras as examples of how fluid Michigan basketball recruiting has become over the past year. Plus last week I read a report U-M had a coach at one of Poydras games. Along wth the fact U-M is still listed on as one of the schools Jordan is still considering, although this is probably just dated material. But I raise the question in case I missed something ?

That’s the fun part of recruiting, especially with Beilein, we never know who U-M will prioritize next ?

Dylan – I heard that there are rumors on WMU sites that Juwan Howard Jr might be transferring to UofM. Do you believe this is a possibility? Does this make sense from a possible scholarship breakdown?

    • KRN

That wouldn’t make much sense. We’re sitting pretty with a bunch of guys in 2013 so why would we spend the scholarship on a MAC transfer. The only way that would work is if he’s walking on after transferring like Dumars did.

Per Andy Katz, Arkansas as another out of conference game this season?
