Video: Trey Burke Guides Northland to State Semifinals

Dylan Burkhardt

Trey Burke had 29 points on 6 of 12 (3-5 3pt) shooting with eight assists, five rebounds and five steals in an 80-62 Northalnd win. The Vikings advance to the OHSAA Division I semifinals where they will face AP No. 1 Garfield Heights and Penn State point guard commit Trey Lewis. Here’s video of Northland’s win from Cap City Preps. Burke wears #3 for Northland (green).

In other recruiting news, 2011 big man Max Bielfeldt is expected to make a decision shortly. Bielfeldt will decide between Michigan, where he recently had a very positive official visit, and Illinois. This is a recruitment to pay close attention to this week.
  • I look forward to Lewis showing that PSU did not miss out on anything with Burke’s decommitment. ;) I’m really excited to see what happens in this game. I could see Burke putting the clamps on Lewis defensively, though.

  • Does anyone know the Mr Baskeball situation in Ohio? In the Freep the other day it said that the MSU signee won Mr Basketball.

    • Dylan Burkhardt

Dwaun Anderson won Mr. Basketball in Michigan. A pretty shocking choice, I thought it should have gone to LaDontae Henton.

Mr. Basketball is supposed to awarded this week in Ohio and Burke is in the mix.

Pretty shocking, I guess the MSU recruit tag must have put him over the top. Most of the posters in the MSU forums don’t even think he is a good high school player. lol

  • Thanks, that is a shock. I think if Carlton would of put up 25 a game he could have won it. His numbers were a bit down this season.

Is Bielfeldt deciding between a preferred walk-on status at Illinois and a scholarship at Michigan (acknowledging that $$ is not an issue for this young man)?

    • Azad

I read somewhere that Bielfeldt has still been told by Illinois that there is a scholarship there if he wants it.

    • Mattski

Maybe a no from Beilfeldt would be a secret relief to Beilein at this stage? Wonder who else is out there now that we have shone so brightly on the national stage?

      • Dewarn

I think we should bank the scholarship because I don’t think there is really anyone else in this cycle that I have heard of even being pursued by belein and co. with mutual interest (that is of high caliber). I think we need to move on to pursuing prospects that are both athletically gifted and fit our system. Sacrificing one for the other will prevent this program from achieving its optimal potential. This is not meant as a slight to current players or possible recruits, simply an observation.

I agree. We dont need another Colton Christian. (No offense to Colton)

  • ToBlav

Beilfeldt has gotten some static for not being athletic but he is a basketball player. The key thing I look for is no wasted motion (think Jordan Morgan), because it shows confidence and intelligence. I like him.

does anybody know what song that is in the video
