Morris should be ahead of Lucas IMO.

    • http://maizecoloredglasses.blogspot.com/ the_white_tiger

David Lighty – 12 ppg, 3 apg, 4 rpg, very good defender
      Kalin Lucas – 17 ppg, 3 apg, 2 rpg
Darius Morris – 15 ppg, 7 apg (led B1G), 4 rpg, 2 wins over MSU

      Jordan Morgan – 10 ppg, 6 rpg
      Jereme Richmond – 8 ppg, 2 apg, 5 rpg

      O.o

  • SubAlum_06

Dylan-player’s name in all caps=unanimous selection, correct?

    • Dylan Burkhardt

      Yes.

  • Bigfoot

Surprised Basabe wasn’t unanimous ABTFT. That guy is a player

  • Max in Chicago

Great to see Tim with the honorable mention. I obviously think Darius deserves at least 2nd team for the kind of play he’s had this year, but as all things with Michigan go, so this goes.

  • michiganhoops4eva

David Lighty over Darius Morris??? Honestly, who is more valuable to their team? I understand that Lighty plays for the #1 team in the country, but still.

  • jmblue

Lighty over Morris is a joke. Who means more to his team? That’s just the voters rewarding him for being a senior.

    • Dylan Burkhardt

And playing for the best team in the country.

  • Dustin

Can Novak get some love for All Defensive Team? The dude battles guys 4 or 5 inches taller than him every game.

    • JLG-GoBlue!

I agree! Go Blue, Go Novak! He gives up his body to take a foul and save the team. He communicates, watches and is ALWAYS there setting up the plays for Morris or Jr to take all the credit. He has the true skills to lead this team and deserves so much credit for his passion and dedication. Much love to you Novak <3 ;-)

  • um-nyc

not sure how richmond beats out morgan for all freshman team

    • Dustin

      I totally agree

    • ToBlav

      I had the same reaction.

    • bird

If the coaches were picking a frosh team, Morgan would be on it. Media would never admit it’s wrong or didn’t see something coming.

  • Duffy

A little disappointed Belein didn’t get coach of the year, especially as how they were projected to be 10th or 11th and ended up 4th.

Matt Painter is a good coach, but he also has the player of the year and another 1st team player as well. I know they lost Hummel, but you think they’d be used to that by now.

  • Fred_Ex

This was disappointing and wrong, I regret even reading this I mean David Lighty. C’mon, Jeremy Richmond over Morgan, who votes on this garbage. It’s all for the seniors obviously. Lol Just Kidding. Really I’m not that surprised, they hardly ever get these things completely right imo. Does anyone think that it would be fairer to only look at conference play in these selections and then compare each player by position. Nah. They probably thought, “lets squeeze all the decent seniors in, that we possibly can”. Morris and THJ are in next year.

  • Alex

There are worse things and I think our players will be getting more respect next year.

  • mich is boss

THJ is gonna be player of the year next year or year after. anyone else agree?

    • Tweeter

hmm, that would be great. He has some pretty tough competition including a guy on his own team. I would love it if it happened as that would most likely mean that our team finished in the top 2 or 3 in conference.

  • Tweeter

Someone is always going to be upset with these types of things. Personally I am not going to worry at all about this even if I disagree with the voting. Hopefully this just adds a little extra motivation for our guys to prove their ability.

ODU is currently up only 8 on VCU after leading by close to twenty earlier. The atmosphere at the game is pretty wild.

    • Jeff

Exactly…all the matters is the W’s

  • AG2

Despite a late-game collapse ODU mercifully hangs on to deny VCU a bid-steal.

  • chitownblue

I don’t hate Lighty over Morris THAT much – Lighty is the best wing defender in the conference, and, while not an elite offensive player, a solid one.

The idea of Kalin Lucas and Talor Battle over Morris is what grinds my gears. Battle was a 43% shooter shooter who scored a ton of points, and rebounded respectably. Battle getting in is a joke. Literally all Lucas did was score. Morris is heads and shoulders more deserving than either.

And McCamey…a guy that gets benched twice a year for his entire career, called out more times than I have fingers for not giving a crap, and generally plays with the hangdog, aloof demeanor he does…the last place he belongs is on an All-Conference team.

    • TRUBLU78

They had to put Battle on because of his career numbers. Only player ever in conference to have:
      2000 points
      500 assists
      500 rebounds

and only 3rd nationally I think

its kinda sad for him really…….never ent dancing with such huge numbers!

      • chitownblue

I don’t have a problem with Battle getting recognition – he was one of the 15 best players in the conference. I just have a hard time saying he was better than Morris – he was a one dimensional player.

        • mike

one dimensional? Hes a better scorer and defender then morris.

    • MAS

I surprised at Kalin being 2nd team. I guess assist to TO ratio means nothing for pg.

  • Jeff

Someone’s always going to feel slighted by these kinds of things. If anything, maybe it gives Darius some fuel for next year.

I will say though, looking through the list, the Big 10 had a lot of good, experienced players this year (also OSU is loaded…). It’s been covered before but it will be interesting to see how next year shakes up with all the seniors leaving. Gotta love Michigan looking ahead….

    • Jeff

Talent in the top half of the conference, that is.

  • rkw

this just gives jmo a reason to come out fri and light up illinois!

  • Champswest

Championships are important because you win them on the court. Voted upon awards are just someone’s opinion and who knows what the opinions are based on.
