Video: Trey Burke Leads Northland to City League Title

Dylan Burkhardt

Trey Burke had 14 points in Northland’s 59-52 win over Walnut Ridge in the Columbus City League Championship. Burke had 10 points in the first quarter before Walnut Ridge switched trapping style defense designed to take the ball out of Burke’s hands. Capital City Preps posted a great recap of the game including several quotes from the Michigan commit as well as these highlights (Burke is #3 in green):

Lots of talent on the floor in that game, but, man, you realize just how poor high school defense is when you’ve spent the week watching Big10 defense.

  • Ben

Defense is mostly effort and it seems like sometimes the kids are playing lazy. I think Trey will really help this team next year. With him on the floor it will allow Darius to play off the ball a bit more and he also won’t have to play 40 mins a game.

You guys are right-almost no energy is expended on defense-Trey will have to step up in this area.

    Nice win yesterday.

I’m a Michigan fan from Kentucky (yes, Kentucky) and I’m happy I found this site. I’m interested in buying some UM game DVDs from the 1990s and early 2000s. If anyone here has any, or can point me in the right direction, I’d greatly appreciate it. I apologize in advance if this isn’t the proper venue for such business.
